Roll daily dice every day!
Join a guild.
Get the 3 small/tiny bags for free.
Farm a horse.
Farm a couple of Expedient Retreat boots (unless you have the spell, and maybe even so)
Farm a couple of Bracers of Assistance (always keep one ready to heal up a group member who is incap)
Get the starter cake.
Buy cure/repair pots from a vendor.
Link anything good you dont need yourself in guild chat.
Put anything you dont need right now into the shared bank.
Wish you could get True Seeing early on (I dont see a reasonable way to get it, crafting seems a bit costly at 250 skill)
Anything else you would like to suggest? I reckon I am overlooking something good from vendors or collectible collectors as I usually ignore those.

If you’re going to try to get on the leaderboard, buy the ML 1 resist 20 pots and super healing pots and a teleport rod from the ddo store
if you’re just going to try to get the favor rewards and level 20 reward, you can skip a lot of that. The Leaderboards are going to take store purchases, though.

Nope.
even in the first hardcore..... people in my guild got onto the leaderboards with 0 purchases.
2nd time around it should be easier... because less people are interested (or the rewards are worse)

Been so long since I had to get them so I have to ask... where do you get the tiny bags?

You can use it if you're incapacitated.

I would also add farming out as many protective gloves as you can get for the shield clickies. I literally run necromancer's doom 8x on all my hc characters to get as many as those as I can.

Warm socks.
You're playing a computer game and you're not going to be moving around a ton, so it's important to have warm comfortable socks to keep your feet warm while you play.
