View Full Version : Alchemist 15 Bug: Only 1 L6 Spell

I hit what I hope is a bug with Alchemist today upon reaching 15th level - I can only memorize one Level 6 spell instead of the two that have been advertised for level 15 in the previews and in the final release notes. I was hoping to splash 5 levels of something else, but now I'm on the fence since I cannot take Goldskin Potion + a damage spell in the top tier. I have to think this is not WAI, as the latest release notes still clearly show that at Level 15 we should be able to memorize two L6 spells.

Hmm, there have been two U45 patches now and I still can only memorize one (1) 6th level spell with 15 Alchemist levels. Are all of the patch notes, forum posts, and documentation wrong or could someone confirm that this is a bug?

My guess is that it's wai, since you only get one 2nd,3rd,4th,5th level spell the first level you have access.

Propably unanounced change, like effects of almost all spells being different from what is in u45 release notes. Didn't get any response regarding that, so i doubts devs will respond on 1 instead of 2 spells at lvl 15. Still it's propably working as intended, given that you get only 1 spell of every lower level when you unlock them.

It could be, but the Bard gets to choose two L6 spells when they first reach that spell level. And Wizard always gets to memorize two spells as they reach each spell level, as well.

Bards get level 6 spells a level later (at 16).
Even Warlocks, another 6-spell-level class, gets only 1 6th level spell when they get them, a level later (at 16, again)
Finally, the class whose spell list and functionality most closely resembles Alchemist is Artificer, that just so happen to get their 6th level spells at level 15, just like Alchemists, and get exactly 1 spell slot of that level once they reach it.

Even if you were only able to cast one level 6 spell at that level, you should still at least be getting 2 spells to add to your book.

Probably WAI. But as with any primary-caster class, I would seriously recommend against splashing more than two levels of something else. If you're looking to use Alch's non-caster abilities, like Vile Chemist, then go right ahead. But the caster level and DC hit on a deeply splashed primary-caster makes them practically useless in epics. Plus it's never fun having all your buffs dispelled constantly.
On a side note, why the heck are alchemists' "spells" dispel-able in the first place? Is it forcing you to evacuate the potion from your body or something?

Arti is probably the closest analogue and they get 1 at 15
That being said, the wiki has 2 for Alch at 15, and if that's what was in the release notes then that's what players should expect - so if its really just 1, that's on the devs.
