Deathward and Destruction

Does DW not protect against Destruction's instakill effect?

I just got gibbed twice by +cordovan on an alt with this effect while DW was up (but no Deathblock item equipped)...is that a bug, or is Destruction just an exception? Or did something sneaky-dispel me?

I think it's because you made the save. It prevents the instakill if you failed the save. But when you save, it deals damage on you, and I think you died from that. Do you still have the logs of that?

I checked the logs and I failed the save - it didnt do bane damage, just killed me

Also I was near full health, on a char with StalDef HP boost, so I dont think it'd do that much damage at once, even with it being Bane.

If that's the case, then Deathward should have prevented the Instakill portion of the spell and you should have seen the black skull radiate above you only. So something is clearly amiss.

I know (tested) my own Destruction on targets and failed once they come up against Deathward, so Deathward is still definitely working.

This leaves a lot of other possible reasons it could have failed though; including lagged effect (it appears but didn't actually do anything), it got dispelled, etc. Will be hard to tell without seeing what transpired though.
