Like others, I was disappointed that shared bank sorting by slot and level did not when I tried it.
Also like others, I was happy to find how to make it work: We need to take everything out and put it back in.
This can be done in batches (i.e. you don't need to take EVERYTHING out at once). Just take out 20 items or so, and put them back in. I found it helpful to have it sorted by latest entered (which does still work) and just take out from the top until I reached the stuff I had put back in.
Took me under 15 min to churn everything out and back in. Would be nice if the devs deployed a script to do it automatically though, and/or put out a PSA about what needs to be done to fix this.
I'm guessing the indexing only applies on items when they enter the bank. It makes sense that players wouldn't have caught it on Lamland, though I'd have hoped the dev(s) who built it would have thought about and tested this use case.
Edit: Sniped by Cordo. (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/512232-Bank-changes-in-U45?p=6295243#post6295243) Seems they did mean to apply the indexing :)
