If you are having problems logging in try logging in under 32-bit client and enter a server all the way through to the game. Then log out and log in under 64-bit.
On my 2 year old mac it was taking 5 minutes after selecting a server until PC selection screen became available. The after selecting a PC two minutes would pass before client lost connection to server.
