Hello and thanks for showing up.

It seems to me that this online version of Dungeons and Dragons has strayed from its original roots.

The original game has always been a social event in my experience. When we decided to get together to run a game it was an event. Often times everyone would bring some kind of snack or food, and we would end up playing the game well into the evening hours.

When I first came here back in '09 the game was oriented towards a party-based play style. It was possible to solo, but you were probably not going to solo anything on elite. Now the game has morphed into a weird version of itself.

Running in a party is rare it seems these days. It seems that all PUG's are reaper zergs. Nobody seems to want to actually play the game as it was originally intended.

Well, there is a new guild in town.
One that remembers the old ways.
A guild built specifically for Old School Dungeon and Dragons players.
Here are some of the things that we will try to focus on:

We prefer to run in a party, with voice chat.
We are not interested in zerging; unless doing a favor run.
Doing quests on reaper is not on our radar.
Epic level content is also not on our radar at this time.
Learning the game and playing as a team is our main goal.

If this sounds like the kind of play-style you would be interested in running; our guild (Old School Rejects) is on the Cannith Server. Send my main character (Syngallong) an in-game mail message mentioning this thread and I will get you in the guild.

Edit Mar 3, 2020:

I have had several (more than 6) guild recruitment sigils bounce back to me.

All new players need to realize that any mail from a stranger (not on friends list or same guild) will be in your unconfirmed mail tab.

When it bounces back to me I have no idea who it was sent to, so I can't resend the invite.

If you sent me a request and think I was ignoring you, I promise you that I wasn't.
I sent the invite, you just didn't realize it was in your unconfirmed tab.
If you are still interested in joining, please send Syngallong another request and keep an eye on your unconfirmed mail tab, or add Syngallong to your friends' list ;)

Great! What timezone are you guys running on?

At the moment most of our members are in the Americas (North and South). I think one (maybe two) are in the UK.

I think one guy tends to play in the AM; a few of us play in the afternoon; and some play well past midnight.

I have been known to play late into the night (3-4 am CST) depending on whats going on.

I'm retired, so I can technically play at any time, but try to limit myself to after sundown.

Cannith is not my main server but this sounds like fun and my idea of D&D Online.
I have 40 open character slots on Cannith and can create a character of any (every) class.
What character class are you in most need of filling?

If I join, how do I get the snacks?

Wish y'all tremendous success. I FAR prefer grouping at a level of difficulty that doesn't permit rushing about in a herd of rabid lemmings, but I really like my current guild (and I like reaper a LOT, too). I am on Cannith, though -- hopefully will see y'all out and about there late-PST time. :)

Amazing, and they didn't need to build a new server to force people to play a certain way... people could just (gasp!) role play!

We had a large group that would get deployed worldwide and we were able to (almost) replicate playing in person.... role playing voices and music included. I miss those days since they strayed from the feel of true D&D. Good luck!

At the moment, there are less than ten members of the guild, so we need everything.
Someone who likes to craft would be nice, but not a necessity.

I agree, playing on-line is different than in person, but it can be done.

I was never one to get into role-playing much, I just enjoyed being myself, but did play with people who liked to "get in character" from time to time. One guy even wanted to dress up and wear costumes lol. That was a bit over the top for us and he ended up finding another group to run with.

If you sent me a request for a guild invite and never got it ...
I sent it, please check your "Unconfirmed Mail" tab next time.

I assure you I sent an invite to all who asked for one.
I had about 3-4 bounce back to me after a few weeks.
Any mail from someone not on your friends' list will go in the Unconfirmed tab

Our little guild has 14 active accounts at the moment.
We could use some more players in the am time frame in the U.S.

Anyone who wants to get into crafting let me know now so I can plan to get crafting augments on our ship. So far nobody seems interested in crafting, so those that are interested would have access to lots of ingredients.

Please resend your request to Syngallong and add me as your friend so you are sure to get the invite.

We're still recruiting. We have grown quite a lot now with over 30 accounts with about 18-20 regular players. We could always use more people, the more the merrier they say.
