For several years, a number of us have been making suggestions on improving & updating the Risia festival, in threads such as these:

Despite all of the suggestions, the only 'update' that the festival has received in several years was the removal of a ship that some opportunists were using to farm purple coins. Mission accomplished I suppose, except for the opportunists have now merely relocated to an even more advantageous spot for farming this year (as seen on multiple servers).

I am not sure exactly why it was removed, but if its removal also eliminated a long-running cheese tactic for the ice games, that's fine.

If true, I suppose that makes the name of the new ship the S.S. Cheese Puff.

Like one would even need to hang out on the crows nest to get the 3 coins..... Do people actually still care about this festival. I agree it needs a rework. Weapons don't have the ML reduced anymore. To many named weapons to care about icy burst on some loot-gen. Sure there is some not WAI cosmetic shenanigans. Some store trinkets. A pet. **** this event is getting sad. Not enough instances to make it worth while.

Now you got some cat on the forums busting peoples chops that like to stand around for a minute 30 waiting for a regen. lol

Yea, it is very sad that SSG don't got the imagination for fun.
You know, other mmos might be generic, but they at least
know how to create fun events and keep players online for those.

Sadly, that's kind of the point. I'm not after the people jumping from the ship, else I'd have shared the names. I didn't begrudge the original mast jumpers either, at least they were out there participating in the event.

This is more about the choice of making an event change that no one asked for when there were so many other positive things that could have been done, both inside and outside of the event, and the resultant irony of the one change that they did choose to make.

Since SSG sell: Ski Lift Hot Cocoa from DDO Store, which teleports you back to the Harbour ramp near the ice ramp "starting point", the odds are they don't want to advertise the fact there are also free methods of teleporting to the "starting point" via those three broken ice blocks.

I don't bother with that event anymore...too much effort for very little reward
that is totally random.

Halloween event is 100% better

I think it's worth it for the icy burst effect. It's strong for low-level weapons, and I think lootgen weapons make the best low level ones, since you can get stuff like this:
