They should add it. I was extremely lucky and pulled one on a 100 silver dice roll. I think that is probably the best roll i had in 7 years.

that is not the unique thing about the bundle.

menace had the greater tome of learning
shadow had the greater tome of epic learning
raven had the racial point tome
and sharn had the universal tree point tome

these were given to every character, that was the draw. but back when first 2 expansions came out every one played multiple toons not 1 main. i still play around 18-20 toons so it was cheaper to buy big pack then buy all the tomes individually.

but to OP i think they found out how strong racial points actually are. i tink you will see them as often as otto boxes once or twice a year.

Are you sure it was a silver roll? I got one off a dice roll as well, but i thought it was a gold roll. Not sure anymore however if you got it from silver.

I couldn't beleive it either! It was definitely a silver 100 roll. Gives people hope! Honestly that tome is literally like 6 racials at once. (Minus the ability scores). Good times!

The +2 came out Feb of last year, and that was the only time it's ever been for sale. Hopefully it will go up again soon, like maybe for the anniversary...or better yet be permanently added to the store.

So you guys only wish for temprorary +1,+2 tomes for AP ; instead of 1500 (or some similar amount, decided by the company) points to unlock/fill the entire racial tree for all future characters ?

It is similar to unlocking both veterans or 32 point build for all future characters. Who wouldnt want it for his entire characters ?

You could make a semi-optimal Elven AA with a Class capstone and a Wisdom trance,

..oh wait ...no, you could not :P.

aaaand inversely the most expensive ranged build would perform way less good than the compact ~41/53 point kits :P.

You may be looking at this through the eyes of someone with lots of racial action points. I have not earned any racial action points on my mage, the spell pen was much more important; I am now working on my first set of racial lives. As a human, with three racial PLs and the +2 tome this would give me 3 racial action points and so I can get a spell power boost and +1 INT which is not to be sneezed at.

Adding a +2 tome when you have few racial action points tends to add a lot more power than someone with 10 racial action points and a similar tome.

I respect all the posters' ideas. But really, especially at epics racial tree bonuses have no real meaning.


Even +60 heal amp is good, barely, up to lvl 15.(Even then that has no value without the best items, strongest potions and wands and scrolls and insane UMD or Healing power) +2 even +4 to DC s is to laugh at. Only if trees gave extra DC equal to caster level... Even random drops give alot more bonuses.


If there was any big dice roller damage effect that scaled with character level; stacking %25+ doubleshot, %25+ attack speed, +%60 movement speed, 200+ healing amplification, +%70+ hitpoints, +30 to all skills, +30 to all ability scores, +200 prr/mrr and Elemental resist/absorb...like Absurd enhancements at Racial trees (before level 21) , then yes, that would ruin all the balance. (Because even heroics require +45+ to saves and +25+ to hit and damage raw from ability bonus, without criticals. We all know all other required speed, prr/mrr, resist bonuses. This is for anything over Normal setting after level 12+ !)

It does not exist. One of the reasons Ranged builds beat anything else.


Just to note, it would be nice if items were nerfed and enhancements ,feat, character levels gave that bonus before level 20 for sure. It would open the gates of fun to all skiller/skillful casual and permadeath players. Right now Items and special attack comb/chains beat anything.


Several Ranged and Casting Feats and Epic destinies, Universal enhancements or several T5s from (only) several class trees and items and weapon damage based (not the melee, saves or skill based ones) counterparts beat wimpy racial enhancements big time.



This is the same for ability scores and mere DC bonuses that has no real effect at all.


But any other balance breaking racial enhancements after med heroics ; those does not exist.

The extra AP granted by the Racial and Universal Tome might not help everyone. That's always going to be a given since not all Enhancements Trees are useful (Henshin Mystic, I'm looking at you). However, for those players out there (myself included), who enjoy fun builds, and non-power builds for the very best, these extra AP will provide options that would otherwise be impossible to have obtained otherwise without needing to go through the dreaded hamster wheel that is Racial Reincarnation. We already have players who refuse to go through Normal Heroric Reincarnation and some even Epic Reincarnation. So for these players, the option is granted where a little extra leeway in their builds is possible.

Whether through being able to put more AP into a main Class Tree to gain a Capstone, or specific combination of Class Tree effects. Or through obtaining enough advancement through the Racial Tree or a Universal Tree for a specific ability (Ghost Touch, True Seeing, abilities essential to deal with Reapers without needing to look for gear or augments, etc), so that your non standard Capped Gear selection is viable.

It's not about making the absolute best, but making something previously that was not possible but desirable (an outcome for our toons), to now being desirable and possible; IF it is within reach. And lets face it, if this was never the case (being within reach), these Tomes will not be flying off the shelves so to speak. So it certainly has its uses.

So yes, I would like to see the Racial +2 Tome again (and future +3 I hope, since most of these tomes go up to 3 for these types of effects anyway, so I'm assuming 3 exists or is planned). As the new changes in the next Update (45) could turn some toons from not needing it but would be desirable to have, to possibly making it desirable so they can do "more" with their builds.

Those have been and always will be my thoughts on these AP Tomes.

I have a few extras on my toons that are subpar but are just fun from my perspective. I actually minmax in other areas just to offset the "frivolous indulgence"

I have several builds where AP+1 would make a significant difference. I could farm 3x Racial PLs, but I absolutely despise heroics and the TR method. If racials could be earned by making alts, I'd make 30 alts in a heartbeat (ok, it would take a month at least, but I'd love it and do it). Or, I could buy an AP+2 tome. For me acquiring racials and heroic PLs would rank like this:


Alternate Characters & Account-wide Completionist (might be a fantasy, but this is a fantasy game ..)
Instant Racial|Heroic PL Tome (doesn't exist, but one can dream ..)
Current Tome (eg. Racial AP+2)
Otto's ... iffy (hate TR mechanic so much might go play a different game instead)
Actual TR. TR is so buggy I don't think SSG deserves to get paid for an Otto's (and Otto is never around when I do consider it)

BTW, their entire limited time offer thing is definitely backfiring for me. There were a TON of items I'd have bought if they were available all the time; easily 50K DDO Points worth, perhaps as much as 100K. All missed forever because I found other ways to solve that issue than spending. IMHO, SSG would make so much more from putting all items up all the time.

If they want to entice people to check the store regularly, put rotating sales up -- daily, not weekly. Even with the limited time thing they do and my desire for the AP+2 tomes, I just plain don't check the store for temporaries. They change too infrequently for it to become part of the login routine and so I might check after I see a thread like this, but then it's off the radar again because it doesn't change daily.

at this point i'm starting to think that a sale on potion of rage (5 potions, 60 ddo points) and wands of slow (50 charges, 150 ddo points) is more on the radar than actually getting cash on something that will sell like crazy.

At this point in the game, this would be the top-seller. The box dupes showed us that players are sick of the grind and at a price, they will pay to skip it. All the vets are gone anyways so there won't be any uproar if they introduced it.

To the OP, +2 is not enough, especially with Shifter and HO trees requiring lot of APs to be worthwhile - time for MOAR!!
