I've been reading the forum threads about all the changes being made, and our new class Alchemist.
Also if you haven't seen it, Strimton interviews Steel Star about the class and what to expect. WOW, it sounds amazingly fun. Can't wait to play one.

I've been genuinely excited about U 45. No matter what I might agree/disagree with changes to melee & ranged, I am convinced these changes are part of the big picture, and steps in the right direction. That's what I've been waiting for, changes to certain classes and trees that are well thought out that will help even out some of the disparities we've seen over the years.
As I've been saying, "I speak with my wallet". Well without seeing the update go live, I've seen enough to change my mind and part ways w/ a few "Benjamin's".

Update 45 will bring me back to the game after I get off work the day it's released. :)

Does this mean you want your stuff back??
And can I have it again once the novelty wears off and you decide to go back to something better? ;)

#1, that was someone else's stuff stuff you got!
#2, In the last year I tried a few other games, and within a week gave up, NOTHING is "better" than DDO.

If dear developers follow the newer subclass releases. Why not ?
All ancient four classes and their newer variations will seem to get alternative subclasses if dear developers decide it is worth the time. Anyhow new release seem to be 5th edition (Unless 6th edition arrives lol) :D

I wish advertising was stronger. DDO, our developers and the itchy playerbase (such as myself) deserve it.
( Brand new Subclass for *Barbarians Wildsoul/Path of Beast, *Rune Knight Fighter , *Oathwatcher Paladin, Giantsoul Sorcerer and Astral/Way of Mercy Monk, Revived Rogue, Swarmkeep Ranger, Abjuration Wizard etc...would end up with a happier fan base )

I did, so it's all my fault... I was in the Marketplace looking for a potion to cure the common cold. I wanted the vendors to make one for me, but they claimed that was not their job. I loudly exclaimed "Where's Al the Chemist when you need him?" It was noisy in the marketplace, but Cordovan and Steelstar were busy watching a poledancer nearby and mus have misheard me. Next day the new class was announced.

the 2hf changes look like a dumpster fire at the moment, the worst melee playstyle just got a lot worse.
wouldn't want't to to re-instal if they paid me to play it

I haven’t run a melee since 3x Druid lives early last summer. I’d only run a melee now (before OR after U45) if I got three past lives for each TR/ER.
Melee is still in bad shape because of quest designs and lack of defenses combined with sufficient trash clearing ability, not because of Inquisitive. The only balance change they could make that might change that is allowing Strikethrough to take place on Cleave type attacks.

I really wish older and now ; weaker classes and all unrevamped feats and skills also base hp/resistances for certain classes was updated.
The update would be called as named above and would be remembered to resummon old fans ( The real deal with the population ) back.
( Cash flow ? Also release newer versions of these classes. Players would come back to enjoy revamped ancient classes and the newest version of their most favorite classes/multiclass combinations. A Rogue fan will want to enjoy ancient rogue but will also will wish to try the latest released rogue from 5th edition. Same for Fighter etc...So, Win/Win )
Looking forward to see the new updates.

Inq? I haven't mentioned that abomination, i was merely refering to the changes to 2hf, it's a big nerf and shows that the devs have no idea what state it is currently in and what players expect from it.

I disagree, there are a plenty of great games out there, both single player and MMO. However, there are few, if any, that offer a comparable experience. So DDO is not the best, but definitely unique.

To be fair, a plenty of people did. And DDO already has a plenty of classes, so it's slim pickings in terms of new additions.

Well now..... My guess is that post brought on a hearty round of laughter at SSG HQ, not to mention the amount of ribbing Cordovan would endure.
Let's see, Florida vs Massachusetts. um.......... North to me is Tallahassee. South for him is NYC.
Besides that, I have a son his age.;)

Slim pickings?
There are still some things that are more core game, and quite a few PRC that are more common.
This is before we get into the mountain of splat material from 3.5e

In my estimation, it's probably a good thing they have HCL, or they'd probably lose more money than they're going to make with U45. Maybe that's the entire point? Maybe, despite all the "but that's not what we're doing", it really is what they're doing, hoping they can drive everyone to HCL, where they can rake in the bucks from the people that will, every season, drop hundreds of dollars into toons that are only viable for 3 months, and then have them start over next time. They won't be getting my money, which means every expansion since Ravenloft, the first one I didn't buy, which I would have gladly purchased 3 times, just as I did with all of the expansions previous to Ravenloft. It means that I won't be re-upping my second VIP account, despite having run two accounts in tandem for years, until about a year ago. An experience which actually helped me out a lot with gaming money decisions. I discovered that I could, in fact, survive without DDO, just as I discovered a few years ago that I could, in fact, survive without the NFL. Since my focus has never been about the FotM club builds, and this update severely undercuts what I've spent years, and cash, working towards, it may be enough to bring in a few players, but it's also going to be enough to drive others away. I can't help but wonder if, w/out HCL, they'd actually be able to show a net gain.

I believe it says U45 edition on the bottom of the box.
