View Full Version : Only change I want to hear about: We're Merging Servers

Maybe those of us with no interest in the hardcore league are a minority: but if we are I don't think we're a small minority. I've spent years trying to catch up with the ever growing power crawl by spending my time working on just a handful of toons and I have zero interest in taking a 3 month (or even 1 month) break adding a potential new toon just for a few cosmetics.

I can't and don't begrudge anyone for enjoying the hardcore league but you have to give some consideration to just how not fun the game became for those of us left on ghost servers with no one to run with and barren auction houses and shard exchanges to work with.

I personally took a break through the hardcore league to play other games. I've taken breaks from DDO before and always have come back, however there has been an outcry for server mergers for years now which has only increased since the 1st hardcore league and if you continue to ignore our requests this may be where you part ways with people who have been supporting your company for years (if not the better part of a decade).

To the best of my knowledge (and I might be wrong) SSG has never even commented on this frequent request. Is it that you aren't capable of handling the merge or you just flat out won't merge despite the continued requests of your clients?

Because I know personally I won't be spending another dime, nor second of my time, playing on a server with maybe 100 other people logged on during the next hardcore season.

Tbh I'd rather prefer an option where you can just switch to specific servers when you want (like in modern games)your characters to, let's say, heroic, epic, L20+raiding servers instead of this outdated 995 pecker points to transfer dingleberry type model. But doubt any of these would happen, in fact, it's clear during some previous events like Night revels or winter holiday season when a fraction of people come back and some of the servers just can't take a healthy amount of player base being online and makes everyone freeze for hours at a time. Though I'd be up for you and most people suggesting a server merge, that would not fix SSG's ancient relic hardware problem.

One player suggested SSG should just switch to AWS servers.

What would probably be even better is if a company like Arenanet bought DDO from these hack frauds and remade it from ground up, while maintaining some aspects of current game like trapping, character build choices, questing such as we had in 'Crucible' or 'Study in Sable' etc

Merge was long overdue before HCL even hit.
