View Full Version : Does Lay Waste apply the trip when reset by momentum swing?

I've been using the Lay Waste, Momentum Swing, Cleave, G.Cleave rotation for 3 lives now on my wolf build.
With it, I have been noticing that my initial Lay Waste trip affect works great. If I get a reset under the 1 minute cooldown, I can activate the attack and the wolf does the back flip animation, but nothing is ever tripped on the attack.
Anyone else seeing this? Is there a something I'm doing wrong or something I'm missing? Reading the descriptions, the trip should work.
Thanks!

A party member suggested today that maybe there is an internal buff on the mob to prevent chain trips. I'm pretty sure i can chain trip with go for the kill and takedown though.
Maybe its wolf specific and works okay for, say a barbarian?
(My lay waste DC is 133.)

My feeling is that the cooldown reset is often not working correctly.
This means on your client the cooldown seemingly worked and you can click lay waste (or momentum swing) again but on the server (and at the end also on the client) the momentum swing or lay waste is not done.
And for this reason, also the trip effect does not happen.
It is highly possible that you just dont notice that the lay waste effect is completely not working and it is not only the trip effect missed.
You can see that the cooldown reset is often not working if you dont click lay waste or momentum swing after such a cooldown reset, after a few seconds the button is suddenly updated with the correct cooldown time from the server which is still active.
Anyway, something is wrong with the cooldown-reset for sure and I reported it already years ago on the forum but no reaction to this as usual.

Thanks for this.
I've seen this happen many times as well. Noting that the timer would reset and then in about 3 seconds, revert back to the first 1 minute cooldown has driven me to try to use lay waste as soon as I see it reset. And thus I see it fail often. This would match with your observation above.
