View Full Version : Best Items to Sell for AS?

I'm new to the game and while I do plan to spend a little money on it from time to time I don't spend a lot on games in general (less than $100 a year all around) and I'm looking for a way to obtain AS in game. I already know that I can farm DDO points with favor. And I know how the auction house and Astral Shard action house work, but I have NO CLUE what items are valuable in the player economy and what is "worth a little Plat".

It is a bit hard to tell what sells good and what not on your server cause every server differs a bit. Study the auction house a bit.

Out of the top of my head for astral shards: (This list is not complete and most of the items are maybes)

- tomes (sure thing)
- otto's boxes (sure thing)
- rare filigrees
- sentient xp
- popular low lvl (<10) weapons with vorpal AND a metal or Ghost Touch or a red slot
- slaver ingredients
- sharn ingredients
- Omnispell Dust or Stone
- luck blade
- Threnalian War Dagger/Blade
- Portable Holes
- Eberron Dragonshards
- Sibery Dragonshards (Exceptional or Flawless)
- Thunder-Forged Dwarven Ingots
- Pale Laevnder Ioun Stone
- Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone
- (Flawless) Dragon Scales (blue, black or white)
- Shroud Materials
- Item with green slot
- Item with 2 augment slots (those don't drop anymore ingame)
- Cannith Essences
- Tiefling Blade
- Hand of tombs
- Strinati's Hand Cannon
- Sky Pirate's Dagger
- Scorched Wraps
- Muck's Doom
- Muckbane
- Legendary Raid Timer Bypass Hourglass
- Temple or Elemental Evil mushrooms
- ...

Cheers,
Titus.

Thanks;

I know that studying the auction house is a good Idea but I have a hard time telling whether current prices are bids or what the poster set as the starting bid. I have been useing the Plat auction house as a testing ground. (so far the only thing that sold well was Hair dye at a byeout of 5000 in less than 1 hour).

You have definitely saved me a lot of time with this.

Also I did get a 2 augslot item out of searing heights, it was a longsword from a rare encounter chest. Forget the name of it but it looked similar to a scorpion with a semi-humanoid upper body instead of a head (some kind of "centaur" variant).

Now I have A new question: any Idea why I can't add a buyout price to my omnispell dust?

Can't type into the little window, starting price works fine and if I start posting on plat house I can type in both, even tried to copy paste.

Is it not allowed to add a buyout to certain items?

When selling items available in the DDO Store, you cannot set a buyout price when posting. This restriction applies to

Ability and skill tomes
Raid Timer Bypass Hourglasses
Omnispell Dust / Omnispell Stones
Cannith Crafting essences
Hair dyes
Siberys Dragonshards (restriction applies to flawed/imperfect/siberys/exceptional/flawless); siberys dragonshard fragments can be sold on the astral exchange with a buyout price

To add to the list of what sells decently well these days:
Light and Heavy Crossbows. For example ML10ish Vorpal and ML15ish Improved Vorpal

And I finally managed to sell blank bracers (iirc) with 2 augment slots for 500 AS pre-tax. It took half a year or more until someone decided to grabbed it.

Some of the unbound or bind-on-equip named items from older or less-run packs can still be a good bet too, especially some of the rarer ones if you're lucky enough to find them. Weapons with unusual crit profiles too, there's a reason why the devs have locked down on adding more, just look at ratcatcher from threnal for an inquisitive for example.

- Tome/shield pieces from the orchard, since the turn-ins from them have the expanded crit profile thing going & as such hold up very well, particularly for certain builds, eg. Phosphor is great anyway & for a scourge aasimar with knight's training it's murderous.
- Shining Devastation - hits like a truck, adamantine & ooze/rust proof too
- Axe of Adaxus - extra crit multiplier & battleaxes seeing a bit of a resurgence with knight's training.
- Sickle of Sypheros - an underrated gem, fantastic little bit of kit for a swashbuckler, particularly with swords to plowshares. Since it's easy to find it won't go for much, but it'll probably sell ok.
- Tiefling Assassin's Blade
- Sky pirate's dagger
- Flint

I also see the 1k sentient XP gems typically listed about 110-150 shards a piece - as a buyer, the savvy thing is instead to look for named items (without an augment) of ml26+ up to about 25 shards, works out far cheaper, so as a seller, get listing those - epic temple of elemental evil is a good bet for the crafting base ones.

Do you mean it is bound or nobody buys it? Maybe no market on your sever or you set the price too high?

I'm gonna add augments (mainly named or utility ones) and cannith crafting collectables (in stacks that are needed, 15 for the commons, 5 for the uncommons) to the list of items to sell for AS.

+ Ruby of Ghostbane and Ruby of Endless Night, but only months after the event, and in quantities of 1-2 per a few weeks so its price and demand will stay high. Especially when new and useful-looking weapons arrive with a new content...

+ Also, despite being easy to farm, Ruby of Good/Adamantine can also be sold sometimes.

+ Any useless BTCoE named item, since they are sentient food (drops from eveningstar epics for example).

Any update on things that sell for shards these days? I'll start going through my bags and try and make some badly needed shards

TIA

Pretty much the same, except lootgen ("green") items with 2 slots drop again. weapons/orbs with 2 red or compatible (orange/purple) are sought after the most.
Also, new augments added in U48 (they are absent from the store) (dodge, accuracy, damage, tactical DCs, spellpen)
old (unbound) Sands items (new ones all drop bound)
