***UPDATE 1***
The client is working. Ran into a problem after changing the screen size to something a bit bigger than I was running. It worked until I quit and reloaded the game. The game wouldn't load after the character selection screen. It would just sit on the loading screen. I had to reduce the screen size to get it working again.

Like many Mac users, I installed to the most recent update to discover that my client will no longer work with DDO. I knew that there was work being done on a Mac Wine client because the new Mac OS wasn't going to be compatible with the Mac client. I had no idea today I was going to have to put on my tech support hat and navigate installing a new client. Maybe there was some announcement somewhere, but I have no idea where that is. I already dumped multiple hours into getting this client to work right. For example, the mic doesn't request permission so you can't voice chat unless you run DDO from a big login script written by the amazing Kaytis here (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/456140-Launcher-Script-For-Mac-OS-X) and give terminal permission (thanks Kaytis). In any case, I am hoping this new client works better.

First thing, I am greeted with a screen telling to continue my journey in Middle Earth.

Not a good sign.

Next, download the ddolive.dmg. Quick download, but when I open it, I get this.

Normally, I can approve this in "System Preferences : Security and Privacy" but not this. After five minutes of google searching, I discover a solution.

Hold control and right click on the file, then select open. Then you get an option to open the file in the dialog box.

So, we are on our way. A script runs and opens several windows boxes to install Wine, NET 3.5, and DirectX. There are some long pauses with no response, but it all works out in the end.

I launch the DDO.app and now I am waiting to redownload everything. Last time it took nearly a day (i am not living in the US).

I will report back tomorrow with an update.

If you mean you updated to Catalina, save your data. It will not work. It does not work will not work with Catalina.

I was perfectly happy to play DDO on the buggy Mac client, be down for a couple days after updates, and generally tolerate the bad bc of the good. Now being forced onto a new client I am stuck loading new game data for days. Can't tolerate the bad when I can't even log in. Just very disappointed. How not everyone is having a similar experience.

Not sure. I hope SSG can figure it out for you because I can run the wine client on non Catalina systems with no problems.

Run an OS to run a program to run an OS to run a program?

Being in a major metro area I am sure they could reach out to post secondary ed sites for students to actually update the Mac client.

You aren't alone. I was fine with the old crappy client as well, but what are you going to do? The only way to continue is to install this WINE client and beta test it with all the other Mac users who haven't given up and share fixes with each other.
