Warforged Do Not Have Brains, Why Did Brain Extraction Work On Me?

I was in Desire In The Dark and fighting a mindflayer that is normally quite friendly...........

Instadeath because he ate my brain even though my brain doesn't exist :(

Can I please have an explanation to this? I was not aware that the brain extraction would work on me being that I am a warforged.......

On a more serious note, Warforged DO have brain-equivalent functions inside their heads, which is why they can die, and why separating their heads from their bodies leads to aforementioned death. While mindflayers CAN eat the brain they forcefully extract (and usually do), nothing stops them from just extracting and not eating as a way to permanently disable someone. In fact, they often do so for what they consider 'lesser species', whose brains aren't as tasty when there's better stuff available around. There's a limit to just how much they can eat, after all.

I'm more concerned about Warforged being affected by Burning Blood, to be honest.

Maybe drilling multiple, large holes in your head and sucking out whatever was in there is what killed you.

Extract Brain(Ex): A mind flayer that begins its turn with all four tentacles attached and successfully maintains its hold automatically extracts the opponent’s brain, instantly killing that creature (Ignores Death (https://ddowiki.com/page/Death) immunity). Since this ability takes some time to perform, they will only attempt to use it on creatures they have successfully mind blasted. It is possible to survive this attack by quickly moving out of melee range before they can complete their animation.


If a Mind Flayer succeed to eat a Warforged's brain, the warforged will still die, but the mind flayer will immediately spend the next seconds vomiting the brain.

Which presumably means that warforged can go kamikaze-crowd-control in an attempt to aid the party.... on non-hardcore servers an interesting strategy :/
