Great idea for the hardcore server DDO.

Usually lag is not a big deal.. if you are in a group or fast enough to log a different character if your game freezes.

However, here is my criticism

If your going to try and offer a competitive hardcore league you better have a high functioning game.

I'm sorry to say but DDO is really not.

Its a game you play that is very good for character customization and some interesting quests and items. But, its not at all like other mmos that have strong competitive followings.

The game lags often (at least 2-20 times each play session). It freezes several times per week. Its not even 64 bit and DDO is way behind on server merging.

Having a hardcore league with a low functioning but good game is like having a car race with bicycles. The best player whose bike doesnt break down will win.

If you want to improve the popularity of this game and make more money you really should have fixed it before you started a league that could have greatly increased its popularity.

"Hey everyone, come to DDO we have these great ideas!"
So, some came .. but not many will stay.. they play other games and get sick of the poor functioning.

I am going to keep playing DDO.. but to be honest, if any game comes along with similar character customization and creativity but at least adequate servers and game functioning: I'm gone.

If any devs read this please listen.
Sure its fun to think of new ideas but what the players really like is .. more players. A fully functioning, largely lag free, and populated servers game is the minimum standard new players look for...

Thanks

Isn't this called a bike race? I think they have these.

I haven't even been able to play for the past 3 years due to the server lag - especially around that first fubar mabar dragon event. I log frequently (in terms of an inactive player), no less than once a fortnight, but after logging in, lagging severely on the daily dice, I always just alt+f4.

TL: DR servers bad, can't even play

You should know what i mean mr. bike race. Typical small minded response.
But, yeah, the lag in ringleader actually makes me feel sick every time. But, I shouldn't have wrote anything because I just looked standing stone up on the better business bureau..

I highly doubt they will do anything.

They'll just milk what money they can from the players and do easy updates that use old code or change very little. (wood elf for example)

Speaking of lag.

I think my bank account might lag if I ever try to put another penny into this game.

Oh lighten up, it was a obvious joke.

People have been complaining about lag from day one and I wasn't trying to stop you from beating that particular dead horse. I just found the comment humorous and was pointing it out.

First, you have to improve on your comedy routine dude.

Second,
I withdraw my criticism and comments. I keep forgetting this is a business and these types of people don't think like i do. They are only interested in profitability. So, of course they want to make as much money possible with as little investment. Its just how the economy works.

I can hope certain things. Like, maybe there is someone working for DDO that can show a business plan where improving the game functioning is important to future profitability.

But, for now, I will just enjoy it for what it is. A fun past time in a non-competitive environment where small lapses in the game (lag/crashes) have little impact on the overall value of a character (no hardcore play for me unless things are improved).

I really appreciate the original programmers and designers for this game. They did a great job.

Thanks
