View Full Version : Underlane ... er is it bugged?

Hi, just spent ages in Underlane... found one crest easy enough.. er the other 3?

The lazer light room corridor the door with what appears to be a red gem (I don't trust 'red' since 2h2h) won't light up... I started out the room with the puzzle floor with going through red, switched it back when fire jets, got the lever done. Then noticed that nothing else opened the red gem room so switched this in on the floor puzzle... but the red light on the room across the way still didn't light.

So um... are the other 3 crests behind the 2x doors I can't get into?

Also the dwarves area... I can fly over but nothing is there... haven't worked out how to open that door... is there anything there? Also do sleds regenerate because otherwise you could get stuck in that bit...

It's like 4am in the morning for me so not thinking clearly perhaps but so far this quest has been a bit of a let down... going back to sleep.

I used soarsleds to find two crests. Sleds do regenerate. I found all 4 crests, but it took awhile. Hopefully the locations are the same every time.

The mirror laser portion of the quest yielded only a chest. No crests. Yes, I opened all the rooms. Maybe I missed something though because I stopped caring after getting only a junk chest lol. Definitely didn't find any crests there though.

You just have to fly all around to find the crests. It can be a little tricky since the fog of war on the map is gone from running in on the ground so it's easy to miss where to check.

It put me to sleep too. 1st time i spent about 30 - 40 minutes searching without success. finished out and logged for a few hours to sleep. Just went back in a while ago with my trapper and gave up after 20 minutes. I had less patience the second time around. I didn't even WANT to look. The hide and seek game has never been a favorite of mine.

This quest is a pain. I recalled and gave up... I'll try again when I'm not so frustrated.

Those are the earlier guys. Once you talk to the soarsled renter guy a few locations become available permanently (regenerate/one use at a time).

I finally found all 4 crests myself. Definitely a pain on your first time. Hopefully the locations aren't randomised so I will list all the locations I found them on:

Ground:

One of the side alleys in the Central Tower area.

About NE of the map, not far after you leave the starting area apartments into the Underlane outside you will see 3 doors. The crest is behind the left most door guarded by a gargoyle.

Air:

On one of the roofs of the Central Tower area, guarded by flying mobs.

South West of the map on a balcony guarded by flying mobs. Directly below this spot is a lockbox behind a locked door.

I wandered for 20 minutes, couldn't find any sleds, or 3 of the 4 crests, and almost recalled until a guildie jumped in to help. My problem was that I could not find the switch to activate the green light on the green & yellow gate. Just in case anyone reading this has the same problem, the switch is near the gate on ground level hidden in a nook. Once I got that, the rest was pretty straightforward, 'Q' around to find the crests and go get 'em.

We are hearing your feedback on the difficulty of finding the crests in this quest. The intention is to hunt around for them on a sky sled, but it looks like we may need to do more to call out the objectives or where to find them.

Is there an alternate foot path, like in Just Business, or are we intended to be unable to complete without the skysleds?

· For the crest: just move around up and down...
· For lightning thing part: the red ones opens with the lazer (all 4), the blue/green with the levers inside the doors with the red ones.

Bug report: one person on my party DC with a crest and this one got stuck under the floor... unable to take it, only thing to do recall / Redo... hopefully devs fix this

No, you absolutely have to use sky sleds. The crests are up on top of towers that are unreachable any other way. I tried to jumping to them before I figured out how to get a sled, and it's not even close to doable. I'm glad to hear that something will be done to make objectives more clear, this is sorely needed. If 'use sky sled to find 3 remaining crests' is not an objective, it probably should be.

Or maybe at least let them get highlighted like barrels/collectables/every other quest objective object in the game up until you started making them not-selectable in Sharn.

That was a terrible change. Super bad.

Had crests be unreachable after crests fell through floors upon death during some r10 runs...making quest uncompletable

Ran it for 1st time yesterday R3, we found them in 10 minutes?

I've spent more time looking for last engineer in Stromvaulds Mine. Or looking for Ven in WW.

Sorry, I don't sympathize with time spent finding a quest objective. Too many players in this game zerg through content, and complain they aren't having fun. Not saying this is you, Im just sayin

I was able to pick up 3 of the crests before using a sky sled. I think at least one of them involved a bit of jumping. (But I'm not sure if we've established that the locations are static or random yet so I may have just been lucky.)

The first time through this quest (legendary R4 I think?) was a massive bore, mostly because we didn't realise there were sky sleds for ages.

Since then I've farmed it about 5 times for items, and realised a few things that make it soooo much quicker:

-There are (almost) always gnolls on sky sleds guarding the crests, so you can hunt for them
-You should focus on clearing the ground and not worry too much about the crests until you get the sled
-The crests spawn in four "zones" - for example crest sword appears to always be in one of the three doors by the first pack of mobs. Once you realise that you know which zones to go to find the missing pieces up high.

With these realizations I was doing it in 10-15 mins in a party (if that) and no more than 20 mins solo on my less than ideally built bard. This quest will be as easy to run once people learn it a little as any regularly farmed quest. I know people complain about Sole Survivor too, but that one will be like Sealed in Amber - super long when you're shooting in the dark, super fast once you know the patterns and tricks. There's a poster at the base of the first lift with the day, and a calendar in the assistants office - with those you can pin-point clear only the rooms you need.

Overall, I think the only tedious one is going to be Finding Dorris, as its harder to see that one condensed with knowledge.

I really like the new chain. It felt long first time through, but after that, I think it will be more enjoyable to run than (say) Stormhorns or even some of Sharn.

That is surprising. I believe that at least 2 of the crests were in locations that could not possibly be jumped to, in my instance. Though it's certainly possible that I am just missing some creative ways to jump up there. Now that I know what to do, it should not really an issue, but that first run through was baffling. I am curious if you recall where the 1 crest that you had sled to was located. Was it on a balcony/ledge on top of a tower? Or perhaps on the balcony of a tall and very wide stone building?

Running around for 45 minutes with monsters trying to kill me is fun. Running around for 45 minutes with every single critter in the quest dead except for me trying to find the widget as I look in every nook and cranny is not fun. I'm just sayin

I do actually enjoy treasure hunts... it was more I was super tired.

In the tradition of RTFM though, when stuck it would be good to actually look at the quest objectives and go oooh maybe try...

I dont think I did... or there wasnt enough there to interest... I had found one crest and 4 sockets so in one sense the objective was clear.. just a hint to use sky sleds might be good. And using them to treasure hunt was kind of fun when I finally tried again yesterday.

Doing these heroic to explore on a level 18 cleric on elite - finding them pretty easy (except when super tired). Looking forward to doing them r5s

The soarsled crests are pretty easy to spot as there will be gnolls and gargoyles hovering around them. Both runs I found two up high and two down low. Also found a hidden chest my second time. There’s a lever on a high up bridge in the NW part of the south half of the map, which opens a gate on another high up bridge SE of it. There def needs to be an objective to talk to the soarsled not. I’ve helped several people in game already who didn’t realize they were supposed to talk to her

I finally got a chance to run it again tonight and at least some of the crests were definitely in different locations so I may have just gotten lucky placement my first run, this time 2 had to be flown to.

Well I apologize for not running this on Lammania and giving my feedback there but if anyone is listening.. This section of the quest was not very fun or interesting and quit literally sleep-inducing. I think the use of 3D space using flight is a fantastic idea but the execution fell flat. One thing i'm sure most people can agree on is that backtracking in DDO quests is never a good feeling. I spent a very long time doing that in this quest, I generally pride myself on being able to follow through the intentional design of quests without a reference guide but the crest section felt a bit haphazard. I wouldn't have minded if the crests were all in the same large section but even more well hidden, randomized or not. Also, the monsters on sky sled's were a nice touch but they were hardly present and felt like they had no impact. Again, not trying to be overly critical but it feels like a small amount of polish could go a long way to make it shine.

The quest is a bit time consuming, this is true, but you can tab the crest from far away so is not so hard to find them. Doing it as a party is really fast.
Flying is always nice and i hope we will do it more in the future; a raid over a sea of lava or acid flying all over the place would be awesome!

Devs! Make us fly in the Stormhorns please!

Well, it may be.

This is my 3rd time trying this (the previous 2 times I had to curtail because of time constraints). The first time I figured out the flying, but did not find the crests.

3rd time the charm, right? Figured, "Ok, I'll do it on normal and make it easy!"

Well, found the crests (last one in Dwarf quarter, which took a while).

Popped the lock, fought and killed the boss.

Opened the chest, read the letter, and gone over the room with a fine tooth comb- but I can not fulfill the Search Taugh Ignath's Apartment objective.

This is frustrating, to say the least. I put in a ticket, but let us say I am not wildly optimistic.

Never mind, I went through and found all the "optional" notes, and the last one somehow completed the quest. 143 minutes.

Annoying? Yes.

The objective of finding all the crests was checked, but I only had three of them. Looked for the fourth one forever. I know about the flying, the tabbing, etc. If this is a bug, it's a really bad one. If I just can't find the last crest, it must be in a really annoying place. I went through the whole map at least twice (sewers, dwarves, etc.) and then recalled. I'm starting to understand why so many people hate this quest.

There's always one guaranteed in the beginning before you go through the water processing plant (through any of the three doors in front of you).

The other three crests are easy to find by tabbing / looking for the gnolls + gargoyle, the only exception being the one in the sewers where you initially pick up the soarsled. Of course once you know about it, it's no longer an issue to find.

Best strategy is to actually look up and find the crests while you're progressing through the quest, and not just when you get the objective.

If you kill the boss before you search the room the quest does not finish. The "Search Apartment" criteria (which should not even be there) is never met.
