The wine client

Launches asks for acknowledgment of eula.
logs in.
allows me to select which toon I want to use.
goes to loading screen
looses connection to eveningstar. Last time I checked it it lost connection to server.

Regular DDO mac client

Launches asks for acknowledgment of eula.
can't find program in resource folder.
When app is selected it just hangs.

Steam client
Logs in
connects to server (might take half an hour to complete sometimes)
Toon can play, except in dark scenes everything is really dark. NVGs in the underdark arc don't work. Ravenloft and outside scenes at night are just too dark to work. Since the video adjustments don't work this is a major problem.

The steam client was fine up to a week and a half ago or maybe two.

Please fix this garbage. You advertise on steam that the game works on mac and yet it does not. You list mac as being supported and then your customer service says you do not. This is false advertising.

Nothing on this yet on a fix from SSG : (

One of our Player’s is not able to use his MAC to play the Game after the Patch.
Even trying .. http://live.ddo.com/sites/clientdl/ddo/ddolive.dmg
Still not able to have DDO run like it did before Aug 23 2019.

This is what I am told happens..

Get to the name and password screen.
Get to the screen where you pick a world.
But as soon as you try and enter a window opens from my computer asking 'where is the game client executable?'

For me, the Steam client is working fine. I have had installations get messed up before, I used to run without Steam, then it broke. I then installed via Steam and it's been running fine ever since. I connect in seconds, and am into the server quickly. Should Steam break, I'd probably try the stand-alone client again.

The Mac client allows me to run with the graphic on their highest settings, I would be astounded if the Wine client will do that too. I have tried using the Windows client through Crossover (which uses Wine) and through Parallels (which doesn't). The video quality was SO poor as the render the game unplayable.

Please keep the old client available to use, I will forgo updating to Catalina to play this game :) I haven't tried the Wine client yet, but my previous attempts to get it working in Wine were not favorable.

From patch notes…

https://www.ddo.com/en/update-43-patch-1-release-notes

The native MacOS client for DDO has been deprecated and replaced with a WINE-based client solution for MacOS.

Players attempting to launch the game from the deprecated launcher should now receive messaging to direct them to the new client.

NOTES:
The WINE client is not compatible with the newly-released MacOS Catalina.
Players who wish to play natively on a Mac (as opposed to using a Windows-based solution) should NOT update to Catalina.
The deprecated MacOS client erroneously references LOTRO instead of DDO in its messaging, although all links remain valid.
