Dr Rushmore's Mansion: Behind the Door. Objective is to slay the bosses. It has been so long since I have ran this. My question is are you suppose to gain a star by killing the bosses? If so then this quest is broken because no stars obtained from killing all the bosses.

From here (https://ddowiki.com/page/Dr._Rushmore%27s_Mansion:_Behind_the_Door):

Defeat at least one of the bosses from Rushmore's party
(Optional) Open all of the sealed gates (Open 16)
(Optional) Defeat the other bosses (Kill 4 more for 5 total)
(Optional) Defeat Mother of the Nest (https://ddowiki.com/page/Mother_of_the_Nest)
(Optional) Open three bubbles in the Observatory (Actually collect 3 crests in bubbles)

Might be a bug but yes, you get one for killing a single boss and then that is all you need to do for materials. If you get all of them, you get another star as per above list.

Easiest quick run is killing the rogue past the fire hallways (assassin's crib), gank the Succubus around the corner in the boudoir or whatever (because why not), drop down and kill the Mother of the nest back at shrines before those hallways, done. It is waaaay too much time to do all the stars since you keep adding time onto the challenge...

If you get lucky with your crests and can find hidden doors, its not that bad to do the rest - after the Mother, you head up to the Banner hall, north to the Entrance Hall, east to kill Ugg, then backtrack out to the plaza, hop up to the rooftops and hit the Kobold to the east, then swing all the way west, through the hidden entrance, and it pops you right there at Rushmore for the second star

You should only need to open two additional gates that way (three? Banner -> Entrance and Entrance -> Plaza, I forget if there's one more in the Apartment), so it shouldnt add that much time to your run, considering the extra star and the points (=mats) you get.

Sometimes stars don't show up right away. So you'll earn another star but it won't show up at the top immediately. It will however always show up at the end (and you can check the challenge section of your adventure compendium to verify that you were given credit for the stars (assuming it is more stars than you have achieved previously).

Another thing to note, a full run, for all 6 stars (i.e. getting 5 stars when the dungeon is set to level 15) can easily give you 1000 materials. Challenges are uncommon enough that people are willing to join for them more than you might think. If you post an LFM you have a decent change of getting another person or 2 (sometimes even a full group). You are awarded materials based on your score and much of your score comes from killing things. The more people you have the more things there are to kill (and the more people there are to run around and kill them) so you can get a large amount of materials very fast.

A clarification: You'll need to open both bath house doors in order to return to drop down after "ganking" the Succubus.

Just to re-emphasize: "If you get lucky with your crests … "

I might also add: good place for your skeleton key is the "other back door" to save you a long run back ...
