Is the maintenance early today? cant find any announcement but cannot connect to the patch server

Earlier when I was logged in I saw a server message saying it was going down to be restarted. So right now the server is down while they're restarting it. According to the system message that was in game earlier.

According to that it's about an hour to restart. I assume that's an estimate.

Thought I'd get a couple quests in before work and couldn't get in... Glad to know it's just a restart and nothing wrong with my installation.

Agreed, I've had to uninstall/reinstall 3 times due to my client breaking somehow

Read it again. They give an estimate on how long server restarts last. Unless they have different servers now than they did in 2018, it should still be the same duration.

SSG wants everyone to know how important that you... the customers.. are.... especially the ViP's

I really thought that once DDO became owned by the developers, that communication between us and them would improve. Foolishly I believed that it was the corporate structure of a big company such as Sony, that tied the hands of the Dev's who had a genuine desire to please the customer base.
Overtime I have come to realize this is a false assumption....The truth is, they are lazy. They seek maximum income, with as little interaction as possible with the customer.

They're a business. Of course they seek maximum income. All businesses do. I would prefer more interaction, or communication. Like telling us what's up with this restart would be nice.
