There are many tales of death and despair, but what about those adrenaline pumping moments in which you didn't die?

For me it was when my group decided to do try Sharn and we went into A Sharn Welcome. We all had the warning about trappers, and on a straight run through there are only a couple you actually need to fight. We had already taken the first one out, leaving just the one who was easy pickings way ahead of his group. That is of course until someone decides to randomly open an extra door that leads into a fight with another trapper. I immediately call in voice chat the presence of a trapper in there and charge in to take him out...

...as I'm laying on the floor at -9 hp watching the fine pink mist of what was our level 19 party leader slowly dissipate I thanked myself for not doing something so stupid without Divine Intervention up. Once I get up I throw some quick cures on myself as I bail from the room. The party did finish the quest, but not with me, that was a little too close for my comfort.

These have been the absolute best, "why we are here and playing the game," moments.

I was playing around with building a solo reaper toon and doing early quests on R2 without my first reaper point yet. In Bringing the Light, my plan was to Sonic Blast stun the guard-dogs guard and keep him from opening their cages. After that, I figured the quest would be easy enough with my Augment Summons skeleton pet and cleric hire taking the lead. As it would happen, things didn't go according to plan. Not only did the guard make his stun save and open the dog cages, a reaper appeared right at that moment. I knew I was in trouble, but wasn't sure the situation wasn't unrecoverable. However, when my skeleton went poof and half the dogs were already chewing on my tough zombie flesh, I knew the writing was on the wall and bolted for the exit door. My hit points drained quickly away! With four dogs on my heels eager to bury my bones, I clicked the exit and desperately hoped I wouldn't miss the "Yes" confirmation button for the "Are you sure you want to exit the quest?" window!

A moment later I was in the harbor with all of four remaining hit points, my heart pounding desperately in my chest as if it were trying to escape, and a feeling of being alive I have not felt for quite some time.
