1. The challenge is fun. It’s a game of strategy (like chess) to maximize your toon for survival, choosing feats and enhancements you might not do on a normal server. You have to farm and work for best gear.
2. Similar to one -- you have to learn to play as a team (unless solo). It promotes team building and communication.
3. Speaking of teams it is nice to meet your friends here from your server.
4. It is great to meet and make friends from folks of other servers. I will look forward to another hardcore season and playing with many of them again.
5. Consequence of death in hardcore truly makes you feel pain and passion when anyone dies, because you literally lose them from the group
6. The different roles and classes get highlighted appreciation. You see the need for melee, ranged, crowd control, nuking, tanking, dps, healers and trappers (who doesn't cheer when any group finally gets a trapper!)
Every role has highlighted importance.
7. The cosmetic rewards and Name recognition do not bring power creep.
8. It’s a lot of fun seeing crowded streets and markets, lfms and adventurers. It really feels like a thriving city.
9. Hardcore is making everyone a better player. Whether solo or team, you have to play at your peak. You peek around corners instead of barging ahead. You listen to the leader more and learn to stick with the team. You play like you would really go in a dungeon -- with care, finesse and patience...you learn to wait for the trapper or the tank to go first. I am thinking most of these better skills will transfer back to normal servers. It's a sharp learning curve for noobs who bear the pain of dying or causing someone's death -- but for the experienced player too. Harcore is making us all better players.
10. DDO (Standing Stone) is showing strength and creativity continuing to bring new products and ideas to the gaming table. It is a healthy sign for their company and for the player base. Great work Standing Stone!
