So, I have my spellcasting spellsinger and so far he's been awesome at cap (heroic/epic/racial completionist, full kit, only need a few improvements here and there to maximize things). I was doing r10's with little issue, healing raids, etc. This recent update, though, I've become horribly torn between these two destinies.
Magister
- Superior DC's across the board (enchantment, evocation, and necromancy (for wail)) and a +5 DC clicky with a fairly short cooldown.
- More universal spellpower
- A few more spell points over fatesinger
- Some spell utility/debuffs
- Lackluster on the left side of the tree, so there's no qualms about simply going all-in for DC's
Fatesinger
- Longer bard songs and much more bard song uses
- Very high support/utility, the hymns are awesome (using arcane on yourself and the others for the rest of the party)
- Better DC's than exalted angel before the update, but still much lower than magister
- Free metamagic (I took enlarge and intensify)
- Greater shout SLA: while spellsinger damage blows chunks now matter how you slice it, this SLA is cheap and, if timed properly, can render mobs CC'd indefinitely
So it's basically DC's vs support. I'm so indecisive.
I'm in the same position, also not sure which to choose. Until now, I've been mostly in exalted for general play, or sentinel when raid healing.
For some raids with large open areas, like killing time or thunder peak, the free enlarge from fatesinger tips the scales.
I think I'll start with fatesinger, and if I find I need more DC, I'll swap to magister while twisting some fatesinger goodies. Might still swap to sentinel for some runs as I'm kinda squishy.

Yeah, raid healing would be so much easier with a free enlarge (especially when it can be dangerous to move around, like the new Nemesis raid). I took the intensify because I already have quicken on everything that needs it and embolden is a no-brainer for a DC spellsinger.
I mean, either way I'll turn out golden. I'll still have higher DC's than I was before the update, so it's a just a matter of degree. I'm going to do a trial run of fatesinger in some reaper quests, later tonight, to see how it performs compared to the old exalted angel. I'll know how magister performs, it's basically an upgraded version of what I was before. I'll miss my mass cure sla and wings, but I like the changing dynamic.
I do wish the greater shout SLA was a multiselector. It would be nice to pick from an enchantment or evocation SLA.

How does fatesinger give more dc than exalted? Exalted has 2 cha toggle in cores, up to 6 cha in the tree, and +3 dc in core 5. Fatesinger has +1 cha in core, +1 in hymn, up to +6 in tree, and +2 dc from fifth chord, so 1 less than exalted.

I didn't use the charisma toggle in exalted angel since it seemed to draw aggro on things due to the debuff it applied. That aggro wasn't wanted in higher reaper.
Well, I ran sharn chain 2 on R7 tonight in fatesinger. Enchantment DC's were about 85% on-target, everybody loved the hymns, and it seemed to work very well. I don't think harmonic resonance was working on offensive spellcasts, though, as I watched boss debuffs and effects and never saw it proc even once. That was disappointing, as I was hoping a sustainable 50% sonic vulnerability debuff would make me more helpful on bosses rather than just a debuff/healbot. All-in-all, I think fatesinger is perfectly viable for a spellsinger, although I think a warchanter or swashbuckler would shine in it.
