An older post (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/498968-Another-quest-or-2-in-Searing-Heights?highlight=searing) by somebody who also wanted the same thing, drwho1985 (https://www.ddo.com/forums/member.php/427192-drwho1985); it's just nobody bothered with him.

I think/want/believe that a free adventure should be added into Searing Heights. Yes, I know there's a paid one, but all the other free-to-play wilderness area have at least 2 free adventures in them. Why break the trend?

Korthos Island, lvls 1-3:
Stopping the Sahugain
Sacrifices
Redemption
Misery's Peak
Necromancer's Doom

The Cerulean Hills, lvls 1-4:
Where There's Smoke...
The Captives

The Waterworks, lvls 1-6:
The Kobold's Den: Clan Gnashtooth/The Kobold's Den: Rescuing Arlos
Venn's Trail: Clan Tunnelworm/Venn's Trail: Venn's Fate

Searing Heights, lvls 4-10:
none

Ataraxia's Haven, lvls 10-14:
Reclamation
Sykros Jewel

They even took the time to add adventures to Ataraxia's Haven, a higher level adventure area.

I know that SSG is probably (or definitely) doesn't consider it the best of their interests to add things that benefit f2ps, but they could at least take the time to just add in an adventure thematically based around the wilderness area. Maybe some kind of plot involving the Sulatar and their fire giant "gods"... as a f2p (when I didn't have Ruins of Gianthold), I've always wanted to fight a giant.

All I'm suggesting is they add a quest in to liven up the place... it's always disappointing when you go trudging for half an hour through a new wilderness area looking for new adventures, only to realize that there were no adventures to complete in the first place.

Ideas for this new quest below? Anybody?

Free to Play isn't intended to be a complete free game, it's intended to be a path to premium/VIP. There's plenty of free introductory content. If you're done with all the free to play and don't want to buy anything, why would they make more free content for you? Charity?

Well, you can fight giants in Redwillow...

Actually, some f2p quests start just from the town, some of these could get their entrance moved into Searing Heights. To give some immersion of adventuring by travelling through, like in Cerulean Hills.

Redwillow's Ruins and Archer Point Defense, for example.

I'm all for a little addition to Searing Heights, it seems like an underutilized wilderness area. One off free to play quests are par for the course, I wouldn't expect a whole chain of them as they are there to get you into the game. The back of the drow village might be a good location to utilize. Maybe the reason the drow have set up shop there in the first place is that they are in a stand off against a foe burrowing from the cliff wall behind them. Make it an underutilized monster like a worm, goblin infestation, or umber hulk. Otherwise a (corresponding?) introduction of a new monster, perhaps a bulette, remorhaz or an ankheg!

Here is a little illustrative inspiration for you:

Maybe once a year or every other year they add F2P quests, sometimes just one like Tower of Frost, sometimes several like U31 Gnomework. There is nothing wrong with requesting a single F2P quest to be added to Searing Heights. He wasn't asking for enough free content to complete the game from Searing Heights, just to fill it out a little and give it more purpose.

I would love bulette but... and I'm not going to say never, but... they don't usually spend resources on new creatures for F2P. I think we did get some new animated objects with Gnomeworks and coin-oozes with Tower of Frost, however, I'm not sure those cost as much to create as some entirely new monster like a remorhaz might.

I'll just post this back up here. Red circles indicate places I think a new adventure could begin.

Yes, new monsters specifically for F2P quests is very unlikely, that was the reason to included the 'corresponding' introduction term. A new monster that is included in an update could be used in the F2P quest to increase opportunities to encounter the monster (read - increase infestation). Perhaps the F2P quest could be delayed from the original update release of the monster.

Nice, I was thinking the middle west circle would be a nice location, right behind the drow encampment there.
You wouldn't even really need to touch the encampment itself, just add a cave entrance and 2 or 3 drow to the mix who say things like 'Holy f, landshark!'

I love that area. I have very fond memories back in the day being ftp and farming it for xp, always getting upset of that empty area in the middle!

I support making some of the other quests start in there.

I'm not asking for new content, but making this place more relevant (it's huge, after all) would be a pretty neat addition.

You could probably remove the map Faithful Departed starts in and place the quest giver and entrance in here somewhere.
Taming the Flames too, when I think about it. Would make a lot more sense than starting it in town.

Maybe that is true. Maybe. Of course there are a number of areas in the game where some sort of eventual expansion was clearly intended and then for whatever reasons it appears that like so many other things that plan didnt happen. So I dont know that it was/is intentional so much as the result of responding to changes in game direction and redirection of resources.

I love the Searing Heights and those three kobolds make me smile. Maybe someone cast baleful polymorph on one of their buddies and now there's a red dragon with a kobold's intellect on the rampage that Snutch (Save the mangy, starving dogs from the sewer Snutch) wants you to bring back to his senses without hurting her?

I've always wanted a continuing storyline with Arboth, the delusional? kobold from Ataraxia that says he's really a dragon. Searing Heights is probably not the most appropriate place for that though.

Maybe instead we could see some prequel adventure with Belraen Despiryn from Madness of Crowds? After all, we meet Ionna at level 9 in Red Fens why not a level 9 or 10 Sulatar adventure with Belraen.

I agree...it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a couple of simple low level quests in Searing Heights.

It's actually a pretty cool wilderness area that I suspect gets pretty much ignored.

If not adding quests...how about adding some unique and desireable named item or collectable (only obatainable by at or below level characters)?

I don't know if you're trying to be funny, snarky, or entirely missing the point. ?

The whole thread is about adding a f2P quest to Searing Heights because it is the ONLY f2p wilderness zone without a f2p quest. Not that there is a plethora of f2p wilderness zones. Bargain of Blood is a paid adventure in the Sentinels of Stormreach quest pack.

Searing Heights is a nice level-appropriate slayer area.

The "empty" spot in the middle is an obvious location for a quest. For example, the invading pirates might have awakened something buried under the rubble with all their kobold theater.

The western edge poses opportunities for, among other things, a Sulator Toxic Treatment -style quest, awakened undead, or fire cave/temple, either expanding on or replacing parts of the existing area.

Pirates, undead, hot mobs, oozes, angry elves - lots of opportunities.

Well, if you'll notice, that's why I tried to pose this idea as politely as possible. I'm not one of those "FREE TO PLAYS SHOULD GET EVERYTHING" players, no. But even you must admit that it wouldn't take that much time to add a new f2p adventure to Searing Heights, given the reasons in my original post (all other f2p adventure areas also have at least one f2p quest associated with them).

All I'm suggesting is that a nice, thematically related quest to Searing Heights to brighten the place up.:)

Yes please.

Korthos, Cerulean hills, Searing heights, Sorrow dusk isle, Ataraxia's haven and many more other delicious maps. Graphics outdated there; but the content is beatifull and deserves extra lore similar to Forgotten realms and Ravenloft side (additional non private areas, random encounters, tougher and fun npcs, quests added)

(Other Dragonmarked Houses, Droam and much more to explore for sure)

Holy cow! I had that bag of plastic monsters as a kid. I always figured the toymakers got ahold of a monster manual and ripped off the designs, not that the visual designs went the other way around.

OP, you might have some luck if you lobby for a new quest to be added as a tie-in to an upcoming pack, similarly to Lost at Sea.

If you want consistency, then DDO is not the game for you. DDO doesn't need more low level content. There's such an overabundance that much of it is skipped already.
