I have read up on it a bunch but I am still unclear. Is there any way to get a Sentient Jewel if you have not purchased the Mists of Ravenloft expansion?

You can get jewels from White Plume Mountain.

They are also available in the anniversary event rewards.

Ok so either but the xpack or do the white plume legendary quest or wait for the anniversary event? Don't think I can do the legendary quest yet...

Currently, those are your only options.

The quest pack WPM&OT (https://ddowiki.com/page/White_Plume_Mountain_and_Other_Tales) is 725 DP - not cheap, but not the most expensive pack in the game (by far).

Got it. Well, I am VIP so I have access to the White Plume quest, but not the Ravenloft stuff. Actually somehow was able to run Legendary Hard White Plume Mountain today solo at 24 but only got a Legendary Whelm hammer. I guess the jewels are random and rare drops in the last chest...or at least I assume? Definitely won't be soloing it again any time soon, that was a major hassle.
