New player, mimics and reaper difficulty

I played DDO in 2006/2007. My life got busy so I quit. But i am back, starting over. I knew nothing of the mimic hunt. It happened to coincide with my desire to learn what a reaper level dungeon was like... with my wizard... solo. First dungeon, killed boss easily, opened chest and was destroyed by the mimic. Brought friends next time but suffered same result. Nightmares ensued.

My wizard gets a nervous tick whenever she sees a chest: "You open it. No YOU open it. Let's get Mikey to open it" :p


Elite level was SOOO much easier when mimics appeared.

Lmao, yeah it's funny how hard these mimics can be. Entire dungeon easy peasy, then you almost die when you don't pay attention at a chest.

Btw, there's supposed to be an NPC in the hall of heroes so that mimics can't appear from chests YOU open. Consider that :P

Mimics are fun on elite level; on reaper they are impossible for me solo. Even with a couple others. The difference between elite and reaper is pretty dramatic, from my experiences.

I automatically back away from the chest as soon as it is opened now.
