It is for the Lam client but might apply to your regular one, too.
So try a re-install.

Last update I was not able to log. Now this time I decided to download the lamma client again and reinstall. I still can't log, now instead of the previous error, the launcher only reports "an update error has ocurred". Sometimes it reports "unknown error: 0xffffffff80043038"

I don't know what the 3038 error is,
But I get it all the time when I try to update the live game launcher when there is a patch
The best I have figured, it means something like busy server
Like the server starts a download then drops you
I have found that I need to try and download updates during off hours to have a better chance to get a download to take
Right ow lam is up and ppl and downloading the update
Maybe try again at non peak hours
