I took a stab at building a monk who fights with longswords. Only way to do it was to take at least 6 levels of fighter, though, otherwise it costs you too many feats. I'm pretty happy with the leveling order, you qualify for the nice feats early on and have the option to take Whirling Steel Strike at level 6 instead of Great Cleave, then have Fred switch it once you hit level 12 and can take Tier 5 in Kensei to be centered that way. It should work with any race, I just used Aasimar because it's the new hot stuff. I don't think I missed any combat stance that's needed for LD either. By level 12 the crit profile will be 16-20*4, incidentally the build also works well with battle axes, so if you have an Axe of Adaxus lying around you're looking at 16-20*5
Now then... Does Improved Martial Arts work properly with melee weapons? The wiki mentions there were problems with bows at least, but for all I know it may have been quietly fixed at some point. And if it does not work, what feat can I fit in there instead? The list of epic feats for melees seemed a little on the short side. I'm also not entirely sold on the Astral Scion feat, Kensei has a lot of stuff that goes really well with melee power, but at that level another 20 points might not make that much of a difference.
