According to the new Release Notes:
-The Rose-Colored Goggles now grant 10 Sentient XP when consumed for Sentient XP.
Where is the rest of the sentence? The part that says, "Items advanced using last year's Goggles with the mistaken amount of XP will be adjusted to reflect the correct value of 10 XP per item consumed."
But as the DDO motto goes - EXPLOIT EARLY, EXPLOIT OFTEN!! ...because there will never, EVER, be any repercussions.
Meanwhile those of us who play the game as intended without cheating are at a major disadvantage to those who do.... Yay for fair play! :(

There was a dev post on it, do they really need to post it again in the patch notes? I'd link it but you can go look it up yourself, it'll build some character.

That's nothing, at sentient launch there was an bug that allowed buying 60k sentient xp for 500k plat. That's why half the playerbase doesn't care that sentient xp comes way too slow.

Rose Colored Goggles are a ML30 Named item, they were giving exactly the correct amount of Sentient XP. And given that the item is totally worthless otherwise, I always thought this was working as intended that they actually had some use. The Sentient XP scaling is ridiculous as it is (ML20 = 20xp, lol). The only place worth looking for sentient food is Elite/Reaper Epic Ravenloft. Half of the named items in the game are not even eligible for use with sentient (N/H/E items, and the ones that come with useless augments slotted). I never got to use the Rose Colored Goggles last year because I spent all of my mats on other stuff thinking that they were totally worthless until after the event ended. Now I suppose they are, and there is no reason to run the event.

Yay for posters who have no idea what they're really talking about, and so make a mountain of a molehill.
Here's the Dev thread (all 4 pages) on the subject:

And here's the post that perhaps sums up why the OP here is wrong in almost every assumption they make:

Is/was it an exploit? I'm gonna go with "no", since no player thought it was not WAI until the above Dev post. (Read some of the bitter complaints there, please.)
Now that the Dev's have marked it as such, does that change anything previously done? Should it change things done in good faith? Exploits will always exist, for one reason or another, in one form or another. But that is not the same as "cheating", so get over it.
