Does this work? How is the DPS? Does dex to damage work on both? Wiki says it doesn't. I don't want to farm it and build it, if it doesn't work. https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Axe_of_the_Unseen_Blow

x5 in both hands seems pretty awesome

finesse is dex to hit not damage and it applies to both hands. so attack modifier is highest of STR,DEX and damage modifier is STR

I thought ranger get dex to damage in their tree.

So these wouldn't get dex to damage?

not without the proper enhancement

That's why I posted it in the ranger forum. Has any ranger tried this?

I don't see any reason why dual hand axes of any kind wouldn't work for a dex-based ranger. You should definitely roll with it.

I just finished a dex-based ranger life on an Aasimar Scourge. I primarily used scimitars (because there are some very good ones) but I also tried sinister hand-axes and Ravenloft light maces. Axe of the Unseen Blow should be perfectly good for heroic leveling and would work just fine into mid-epics if you don't mind giving up the sentience.

Having finesse on the axe doesn't matter because you only need 3rd level Ranger to get Tempest core 2 (effectively replacing finesse) and 6th level Ranger to get Tempest core 3 (dex-to-damage). The axe is ML 14 so even on a multi-class build you should be able manage 6 levels of Ranger by then. If you're going up to at least 12 ranger, you can take Tempest core 4 to gain +1 to the critical multiplier. Deepwood Stalker's 4th core gives you another +1 to crit range if you can put 20+ points into it (well worth it for Killer).

Dex-based Rangers work great and I'm sure I'll get back around to play one again.

I'm working on a str-based ranger life now to see how things go with the new Knight's Training feat.

Cheers and good luck!
