Should I splash 1 - 5 levels of wiz on my necro cleric with death domain ?

Won’t be in epic just heroic 1 to 20 permadeth play.

I've never needed to do that and you want to put all your levels into cleric ..the quicker you get to the implosion spell the more affective you become

I would not recommend multiclassing with wizard levels.

I recommend you couple the Death Domain with Divine Disciple: Emissary of Darkness enhancement tree.

What are you trying to accomplish by splashing? Or more specifically, in what way do you want to improve your permadeath viability which makes up for delaying your cleric progression?

Your best deaths spells even on a necro cleric are implosion and mass frog. So I would go min of 17 cleric.

Splashing 1 wizard for the feat makes alot of sense for some builds, but in all cases I found fvs 20 to be superior as a caster. An few splashed I tried and like on a caster:

17 cleric /3 fighter: 20% hp, PRR, MRR and 2 free shield feats
17 cleric /3 paladin: 20% hp, PRR, MRR and better saves
17 cleric / 1 wiz/ 2 fvs: 1 extra casting feat, benefits from fvs casting tree including just reward
17 cleric / 1 wiz / 2 fighter : 1 extra casting feat, 2 free shield feats

Just thinking HP , Metamagic , SP , and more negative energy spell power.

30 hp in PM alone
90 sp arch mage
15 hp EK
1.5 neg energy power per point spent PM tree
2 % Crit

None of these things are worth splashing wiz for on their own. Double Maximize Metamagic is.

A further lvl (3rd) gets zombie form which is fun and the benefits of PM are well known. 6% extra neg crit doesn't hurt either (well, not you).

technically, if you enter zombie form in a permadeath setting, game over
