Probably majority of players have done this at least once: You're asked to get rid of some unwanted guests, you go into the Sleeping Spell Inn, you find that it's invaded by Xorian monstrosities, and you get into a drinking contest to decide the fate of the bartender.

Usually people will just out-drink the beholders and win the game.

That doesn't sound crazy enough, so what if we killed him via liver failure?

Do Beholders even have livers? I don't know!

So I go up, demand Quixxellops release Mickey the Bartender.
He says no, so we get into the good ol' drinking contest.

About....20 minutes into the conest?
I took my time to drink all the drinks since the goal is to kill the Beholders with the drinks rather than just winning the game.

Most of the Beholders other than Quixxellops just tend to stumble everywhere, but are perfectly able to drink the drinks on the counter from far away.

All the other Beholders have died and it's just me, my Iron Defender, and Quixxellops left, the drinking rate is significantly much more manageable.
What's even in these drinks anyway!?

I'm pretty sure at this point I have Uncaring Master even if they removed it from the Arcanotechnician tree.
Stop Iron Defender abuse.

About...35 minutes in? We're slowly making out way there. I wonder if this would've gone faster on Casual instead of Elite...
Also turns out Quixxellops is immune to the stun debuff of the Xorian Cider, all the better for me, since that makes him drink (swallow whole) the drinks faster and take more damage.

55 minutes or so in (probably an hour actually) and we're almost done!
I wonder if being a Warforged is considered cheating in a drinking contest?

Huzzah! We emerged victorious! And for our troubles, we got the optional xp and a DM message that I don't actually ever remember hearing before!
Time taken: Probably an hour.

Remember kids, when you put your mind to it, you can out-drink a many-eyed aberration from the outer planes!
Just don't try this at home.

Also you can rescue the guests on the second floor in any order, and only the last time saved will give you the library key.

The Bard (Who is usually the one rescued last) will ask himself why his lute is all bashed up.

I love the fact that the there was a message set up in case that ever happened.

Just recently TRed, and been playing some old quests.

I miss the old Spot and Listen messages :(

The older quests have some nice details connecting one chain to another, Waterworks, Seal of Shan-to-Kor, Mired in Kobolds quest, and even Ruins of Threnal are connected in one way or another.

thanks for sharing! I used my wolf to help seal a rift, draining its CON, so don't feel bad about the iron defender.

Monk's Grasp the Earth finisher blocks the drinking stun because Drunken Master
