back to game after long hiatus. much has changed. going to do my first true reincarnation (heroic) i'm planning to build a dwarf barbarian with 2 splash levels of rogue. I had a similar build back in the day and he carried two wounding and puncturing rapiers with a crit at 14 or 15 raged if i recall. he was dope, but they nerfed much since then. looking to make similar build with my tr. i read about the red sonja build and its close but its pure barb. i want to be close to what i had but have more healing ability since that was my only draw back with the former build. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

You can do it, and it will likely turn out fine, just don't expect to be able to do everything a rogue can do with a 2 level splash. You would basically be taking the rogue levels for the evasion and a few other minor benefits like a little bit of sneak attack damage. You'd be committing to maintaining a high dex on top of high strength and con and wearing light armor to get the most use out of evasion (17 dex is also needed for twf feats). It also means that six of your seven feats are pretty much set. You obviously want to take the three twf feats, plus oversized twf and improv. crit. and an offensive combat stance (power attack or precision).
Every enhancement tree of Barbarians now has healing on the fifth tier. Taking any tier five enhancements locks you out of the tier five of the other trees, but essentially you will get healing late game whichever tree you go for. I'm looking at the enhancement tree for dwarves and I don't see that much that you need from that racial tree. Iron stomach will come in handy because you'll be chugging pots up til late game, but you'll have plenty of places to spend points between your three barbarian trees anyway.
As always, first level should be rogue for the skill points. Not sure skill distribution matters that much honestly since the pay-off for most of the skills requires that you keep them maxed, which you don't really have the int for. Since UMD is useless when raged and requires charisma, maybe open locks might be your best choice if you want to add a rogue skill to your barbarian arsenal.

great tips, thanks very much. i did take rogue first and am thinking the second lvl around 8 love the healing additions to the barb class. i actually am trying to raise umd only for weapon bypass , wands perhaps for low lvl

oversized twf is of min value
its not the amount of rogue levels that you have its the int and gear you have backing them up.
as a note - u can get locks while raged unless they changed that recently. but you cant search, disable or use scrolls while raged.

Huh, I was under the mistaken impression that the offhand penalty was something more significant like -2/-6. But nope, it's just a -2/-2. It's bad when as a feat you get eclipsed by weapon focus.

leveling is going well. ironically i use thw (great axe) a lot currently at the low levels for damage even tho my first feat was twf. still not sure if im going to go rapier or kopesh once my twf damage gets feasible. since this toon is twf based should i continue to increase str as i level or put any more into dex? i want my dex high so my reflex save is good hence the splash of rogue for evasion. the light armour is going to hurt which is why i want the healing ability as i reach the higher levels. pots for lower levels. sticking with swim, jump, umd, and heal for skills. frenzied bezerker for ap tree. any other suggestions would be great, just worry there might be something i'm not considering since i've been away from game so long. as far as rapiers go, what are the games top rapiers these day? my wounding and puncturing are nerfed it appears.
oh and do i want to take weapon finesse or just keep my rapier damage based off strength instead of dex?

the points you put in your stats every 4 levels are more meant to reach certain values that are prereqs for feats. the +7 you get up to 30 mean +3 attack and damage/dodge/skill for your barb which is pretty much insignificant. Like someone above said having items to boost your stats is more important than where you put your points
weapon finess is to use dex to hit instead of str and that is once again useless if you have an accuracy item. dont waste a feat on it
