View Full Version : Suggestion: Remove/reduce unnecessary class, character or level restrictions
DDO Store
1. Every time you enact a filter to remove items from view for a character, whether that's a class restriction or level restriction, you're imposing a hurdle between my wallet and your bank account, SSG. If I want to buy something for a character that I won't use for several levels, because I have the points now, or I spent money to get those points now … let me. It can sit in my bank or my backpack space until I hit the level to use it. You don't need to police me up front and keep me from buying it. Similarly, if I'm buying an item for a character class that stereotypically doesn't use it … let me. You aren't the one that built that character and I'm in the store looking for that item for a reason.
Example: My Eldritch Knight has shield feats, and spent Enhancement points on shield-based enhancements, but I cannot buy the shields from the DDO store that you normally use to merge with the Battered Marketplace Shield, Battered Stormreach Shield or Battered Phiarlan Shield. She's not the "right class" and so they aren't even visible to her.
2. Every single item purchased from the DDO store should be BtA, not BtC. Don't make me log out and log back into the character I'm actually going to use it on, just to buy the **** thing. If my points are shared, the items should be shared, too. This isn't just an inconvenience, either, because 1. above means that some items are only available for purchase to certain classes or levels, and you might literally be blocked from using a workaround to make the purchase.
Example: In order to get the shields from the DDO Store to merge with the aforementioned 'Battered' items, I logged in with a fighter character (to make them visible), hoping to buy one and just transfer it via the bank to my Eldritch Knight, but the items are all BtC on acquire. Anything I buy with that fighter is restricted to him, and cannot be transferred. There is literally no way to get any of those shields into the hands of the character I want to use them on.
Raids and Quest Items
3. Don't pick and choose in the reward list which named items are BtA and which items are BtC. They should all be BtA. In fact, this should be applied literally across the board and BtC restrictions on items, components, collectables, etc. should simply be replaced with BtA, wholesale. There's literally no sense at all to even having BtC items in a game with shared points, shared banks, shared crafting, shared in game money, and shared random loot. If I've put in the time to get x item, I've put in the time. Get out of the way and let me use it as I please, on whatever character I please. Restricting it to the one character just adds nothing more than frustration.
Example: In my latest Chronoscope run, I had the choice between taking a Staff of Nat Gann (BtA on acquire) and transferring it to my new Thief-Acrobat, or taking a Battered Marketplace Shield (BtC on acquire) and NOT being able to transfer it to my Eldritch Knight character. That's not a choice, is it?

I am ok with btc on raid gear and favor items (particularly the latter), but btc anywhere else is just a huge annoyance. Draconic runes is an excellent example of btc absurdity, but there are many others.
All that aside, I think there is a checkbox in the store that will remove the filter that is hiding items from you.

If that's true, I'd love it if someone could direct me to it. I've just checked over the DDO Store just now, and I couldn't locate anything that would take off the class or level filters. I'd gladly admit to the DDO community at large that I'm a raging idiot if it was staring me in the face all this time and I've just missed it.

I wish I was near the game to check for you, but it’s “show items unavailable to me” or something like that.

What bracelet said seems familiar, but I couldn't find it either (in Options or in DDO Store itself).
If you know something that you want to buy, but for some reason can't see it, if you submit a ticket and if someone responds you while you are still online, so you can discuss it with them, you can normally arrange purchases of things that way. Very long winded and relies on a lot of "ifs" actually happening but it's the only current workaround for when something can't be seen in the shop at all.
The store UI/Filtering system definitely needs some work!

Let’s just say there’s a reason why bags are btc and not bta. Whent hey first released they were bta and the at least on the largest bag, the contents you put in it became bta while they were in the bag (allowing btc ingredient transfer).
Though at this point it would probably be unnecessary to keep any ingredients btc. There’s virtually no support for alts.

I am sorry, but it seems like that option is gone. I might be remembering way back to the old store I guess. So -yea -it's pretty broken.

Raid loot being BtC is fine in my opinion, ingredients should be BtA or unbound, though. And we should definitely have the option to see everything in the store even if the game thinks we shouldn't be using it.

Imagine everything unbound.
Or full reaper xp at +2 quest level.
More groups, renewed trade, player interactions and more incentives to run stuff. Yes ?

Probably would exist had the multiple duping exploits never happened.

I am also in favor of BtC for Raid Items like Gear and Favor earned items.
I do agree that the BtC does seem to be applied to much to items outside of the two above situations. But I also agree that Ingredients for any crafting system in DDO should not be BtC, it should be BtA at worst as far as binding is concerned.
I also remembered a setting that would allow you to see stuff you were not "qualified" for. Seems that option is not where I remember it. And I was unable to locate it.

You're hilarious!
I agree wholeheartedly with the OP, specifically #3.

Yeah, I don't think it's a big deal that I can trade Draconic Runes or Alchemical Crafting Ingredients to an Alt these days...
Even if they don't want that, the BAGS should be BTA (BTC due to contents of the bag if BTC ingredients reside within.) They have the tech for this. I should be able to remove BTC ingredients and move the bag I paid real $ for to another character.

There used to be an option in the store for that, but it was removed quite a while back.

Another good example of not being able to buy things in store due to a restriction: You cannot buy an epic heart unless you are currently epic. Once when there was a sale on epic hearts, I wanted to buy some, but at the time I was in low levels and was not able to buy any. That should be done away with. If nothing else SSG missed out on getting some money from me cause of that silly restriction.
