Hi.

The wiki says that different types of sheltering stack,
then it states that physical sheltering and magical sheltering are the same type
of enhancement then sheltering...

So... does physical sheltering stack with sheltering ?

Old sheltering was prr and mrr new is now physical or magical

So that will not stack but other sources will

Artifact, profane, insightful, quality should stack

Sorry, don’t understand.

Does current sheltering enhancement stack with current physical or magical
rating ?

Sheltering is an enhancement bonus to physical sheltering and magical sheltering. Physical sheltering is an enhancement bonus to just physical sheltering so they don't stack for PRR. You go by the type in the description not the name to determine. Different types stack the same types don't.

Insightful and quality physical sheltering stack. PRR reaper and mythic bonuses stack with all of these and other reaper/mythic bonuses.

Part of Sheltering is Physical, the other part is Magical. Both of them are equipment type bonuses unless specified otherwise.

It will stack with Insightful type, Quality bonus type or Profane bonus type. Some set items also grant artifact bonus, and reaper and mythic bonus will stack.

[type] Sheltering +x = [type] Physical Resistance Rating +x AND [type] Magical Resistance Rating +x

[type] Physical Sheltering +x = [type] Physical Resistance Rating +x

[type] Magical Sheltering +x = [type] Magical Resistance Rating +x

For example...

Item 1 Enhanced Sheltering +15
Item 2 Insightful Physical Sheltering +7
Item 3 Insightful Magical Sheltering +7
Item 4 Competence Physical Sheltering +3
Item 5 Artifact Sheltering +2
Item 6: Insightful Sheltering +4

Adds up to...

Physical Resistance Rating = +15 Enhanced (Item 1) +7 Insightful (Item 2) +3 Competence (Item 4) +2 Artifact (Item 5) = +27
Magical Resistance Rating = +15 Enhanced (Item 1) +7 Insightful (Item 3) +2 Artifact (Item 5) = +24

Item 6 confers no benefit since it duplicates affects offered by Item 2 and Item 3.

An already overly complicated system made more complicated by splitting sheltering to be physical and magical because of "meaningful choices".

It's similar to the individual resistance bonuses to saves instead of just having resistance bonuses all in one. I don't like it at all. Ok small rant over.

OP it all comes down to what any bonus is named. Different named bonuses stack. Same named bonuses don't. Yes, it's kind of dumb I agree. Blame Wizards of the Coast on this one.

For instance, two enhancement bonuses won't stack. Enhancement bonuses stack with all other kinds of named bonuses like insightful or competence bonuses.

So if you have sheltering that gives an enhancement bonus to physical resistance (PRR) and physical sheltering that also gives an enhancement bonus to PRR then they won't stack.
