Hello guys,

First of all sorry for my bad english.

Me and my friend got the "bad" idea to install again DDO. We spend serveral years in this game and after all is still now the only D&D game that make us happy :)
The come back was a little bit shocking. I found that my main char are all in Cannith and in order to move to Ghallanda (the old eu server) require at last 7K DDO points. The surpirese doens't end. In Ghallanda i found my old EU army, almost all renamed with a "~1" missing serveral things.
I still got several (bad equipped) toons on Ghallanda but they really need a respect and new gears. As far i remember i used to solo almost everything in Epic with my FvS, so where to start now after 7years of absence?

We got 1 month of VIP account just to see if the game is still viable but... what we have to do?
The game changed a lot and we don't wanna waste time on "stupid" things.

Do you have any good advice?

I need for sure a good path\build for my Favored Soul. I've tried to read a bit in this forum but seem all very complicated atm. I just wanna a pure Build FvS 20 that can do well in solo and gruped.
The gear is also an issue. Seven years ago was a good gear but now seem all garbage.

My idea is to do the Heroic Reincarnation but for free (don't have ddopoints). What i can farm to accomplish that?

Try, if u can, to put yourself on my side with your know-how of the game. What's steps do you take to get fast and proud back in business?

Thanks,

Peoxly

Welcome back OP. :)

I need for sure a good path\build for my Favored Soul. I've tried to read a bit in this forum but seem all very complicated atm. I just wanna a pure Build FvS 20 that can do well in solo and gruped.
The good news is FvS are about to be buffed in the next update including finally getting their third Enhancement tree. You can read about the changes in the Lama forum (https://www.ddo.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/266-Lamannia-News-amp-Official-Discussions). The bad news is it means FvS on live are...not so great. :p So you can either wait until Update 39 comes out or you can start getting back into playing FvS now with an eye towards resetting your build based on U39 changes.

My idea is to do the Heroic Reincarnation but for free (don't have ddopoints). What i can farm to accomplish that?
Everyone now gets a free Lesser Heart of Wood on their characters, so check to see if it's in your inventory. You might find other goodies too, like the six year old cake (http://ddowiki.com/page/Six_Year_Old_Cake) (now 12 years old!) and raider's boxes (http://ddowiki.com/page/Raider%27s_Reward_Box) which were given out while you were gone.

Wow! Lotsa people came back recently, but you take the cake! 7 years, huh. I felt disoriented after less than 2 years, can imagine what it felt like for you.

As for your questions... Well, at that point I'd just start over clean, with a new toon. If you're anywhere close to 20 on your main, you can consider doing the HTR (heroic true reincarnation). With VIP status, you can just farm Epic Devil Assault or Lava Caves challenge for the 20 Tokens of the Twelve, which will get you the free heart.

Have fun, and don't get too freaked out by the power creep :)

Welcome back! 7 years?! wow. You missed quite alot of fun and games.

More like 3 expansions, racial incarnations, ETRs, Iconics, 3 more new classes?

Its like visiting your home country after leaving for 7 years. You will probably get lost without any tour guide! *grins*

You can trade 20 Tokens of the Twelve at Lahar the vendor near the 12 tower down the little side path. Be will give you a Heart of Wood or Heart of Blood. One gives you class past life one gives you race past life. Easiest way to get is Devil Assault on EpicNormal you get 1-3 per character by completion so run in a group and ask if people will pass unwanted ones.
Good Luck

Seriously? :D <looks for "bad english"...> You're doing better than a lot of native speakers I could name (myself included on a lazy day).

True, but also, 7 years is ~just~ about the time of U19, which was the massive Enhancement renovation - if you had characters then, those all got a free +20 HoW! If so, that could let you go almost anywhere w/ the character.

As far i remember i used to solo almost everything in Epic with my FvS, so where to start now after 7years of absence?
There's a new difficulty level, "Reaper", which itself is rated 1-10 "skulls" - it's lethal, but you get more xp. Not (necessarily) recommending you go there to start - just mentioning it, so you know it when you see it.

Do you have any good advice?... I need for sure a good path\build for my Favored Soul. ...
Forget what you remember, treat it like a new game system.

Good place to start is w/ a character - https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/470423-Build-Repository?p=5759353&viewfull=1#post5759353

For some builds, just choosing the right Enhancements will cover you. For others, use the free Lesser HoW if you can live w/ your current class progression*. For extreme cases, hope you have that +20.

* If you multi-classed and can't remember your build, or it's just a matter of a Feat or two, best is to talk to Fred - http://ddowiki.com/page/Fred#Feat_respec

Note that some Feats are not listed b/c they no longer exist in the game.

My idea is to do the Heroic Reincarnation but for free (don't have ddopoints). What i can farm to accomplish that?
Once you're Level 20, you can start running certain "Epic" quests (Lvl 20+) that drop Tokens of the Twelve. Get 20 and you can Reincarnate. Look for LFM's (in the "Social/Grouping" panel [o]) - often people run "daily/dailies" runs through those quests once/day for exactly that purpose.

o http://ddowiki.com/page/Token_of_the_Twelve#Drop_per_quest

Also, note that there are now TWO diff "Heroic" reincarnation options - one (the original) for Class past life, and (new) one for Racial past life (but unless you're thinking about scores of TR's ahead, just get the original Class PL).

Uhhh you need to work on your math skills, Update 19 was August 2013, which was less than 5 years ago. Though you're not wrong about how OP should have +20 HoWs on all their old toons.

Summer 2011 would've been Update 10 timeframe (http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_10_Release_Notes). So OP hasn't played since before the first expansion, which also means that epic levels, Epic Destinies, etc. will all be new to them. So: quite a bit of catching up to do.

Erp - actually just my speed reading skills - glossed over a note I found and saw a "Dec '11", but that was in reference to something only indirectly related to U19. :o

But thx for suggesting that 18-7 is too confoozling. :p

If that's the case (re exact date of quitting - OP?), then they could (eventually?) be interested in picking up one or both of Menace of the Underdark and Shadowfell Conspiracy - both cost RL money, but are well worth it (esp if/when On Sale!)

Thank you guys!

Yesterday we runned Devil Assoult and wooo.. my toons with old gear still do fine (i still got lvl 12-14 items).

Any advice about gear fast to farm for a LVL20 Favored Soul? My last remembrance is "The Shroud" ahahah used to farm it a lot!

As far i rember all this +6 weapons\para\vorpal\ecc.. was so fuc*** rare items! Now drops like a mature apple tree!

I've opened a ticket to Standig Stone asking if they can move my char from Cannith to Ghallanda, it's to expensive move char and with that DDO Point i just want to buy Expansion and with real money keep VIP active.

Heroic Greensteel weapons (Yes, there are now Epic Greensteel items :) ) work fine for low level Epics. Farming Legendary Shroud isn't a bad way to go for mid level. You definitely need to run "Into the Mists" in House Jorasco while you still have VIP (entrance by the teleporter). It's the 1st quest in the Ravenloft pack. Once you complete it, you can talk to a man on the road in the wilderness area that you port into to get a free weapon (min lvl 29) which is quite nice for endgame, as well as a Sentient Weapon gem.

The fastest way to get decent non-weapon gear would be to find someone with Cannith Crafting (maybe a guildie?) and see if he will help you out. Check out the items you can make here:

Being VIP does not give you access to anything in Ravenloft.

Welcome back,

I think Ghallanda is the place you want to be, I played over a year on Sarlona and then decided to switch over to G'land as there were more Eu players. First thing I did was join a larger guild (Trys) and basically just restarted lvl 1. But my guildies helped out a lot and I found myself with tomes and more pretty fast found my feet. I found that I needed to get some packs like Motu and Epic Destinies so you can take epic levels (although I guess you could stay in heroics).

I tend to run quests such as lord of dust, spies in the house, wiz king, Oob, in dailies groups which are fairly easily run on Epic normal and that way I accumulate epic xp (destinies) and importantly tokens of the twelve for the heroic heart of wood. People will be willing to pass hearts to you often if you ask as many have a good stock after running many dailies. Quests must be run in epic levels to gain tokens!

Tokens are exchanged in the twelve with Lahar as mentioned earlier (Lahar, Epic Trader success with Token of the Twelve Fragment Combination! Consumed: 100 Fragments of a Token of the Twelve (100). Created: Token of the Twelve (1).)

Its pretty fast to collect the tokens and while you do so you can earn some epic destinies xp (is this included with vip?) I had to buy this in the shop but it's kind of a big deal where all the power lies in epics.

well welcome to G-land, feel free to contact me or my guild and I am sure you will get plenty of help.

That's nice!

After 2 week i managed to pick 24 token on solo and reach the 22th level. I'still need to reincarnate but i ll do the lesser one first and than the Heroic (i just found that there is a new skill "spellcraft").

My biggest fear is to cap my toons but unable to pick the end game gear due to population issue.

Anyway, we are 4 persons, that need to be re-skilled form the start. It's your guild free enter?

My friends just restartated with the HR (they got several DDOpoints). My primary goal is to acquire more token as i can in order to get Reincarnation and some aguments for crafting gear.

You can HTR at 20, no need for Lesser. HTR will let you completely respec your character and start at level 1. There's no reason to LR before HTR - unless you plan on taking the toon to 30. And you only need to go to cap (30) if you have Epic Destinies and want to also do an Epic TR at the same time.

Welcome back.

There's really several paths back into the game depending on how much you want to research and play, if you're a powergamer and if you want to pay.

For example; if you want to continue playing after that 1 month VIP ends and you're not going to renew it; and you're not a powergamer; then I would recommend TRing your favorite character into a class/race that you will not lose when your account reverts to premium. (So not a warlock; maybe a paladin or a ranger or a wizard).

Meanwhile; I typically would not recommend someone level up to 30 unless they've bought the first expansion "Menace of the Underdark" (Since epic destinies are so integral to epic levels; and Menace is the best way to get them). So I would likely recommend you TR using the devil's assault token farming method mentioned by previous posters.

If you're planning on renewing VIP if you like the game or stopping again if you don't like the game; then I recommend picking warlock for your next life. They're known for having a high floor to their powerlevel; so they'll be good even without top-of-the-line gear. Also; a guildie of mine wrote a nice guide for warlocks (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/493271-Zehnpai-s-Acid-Warlock-First-life-friendly-Heroic-leveling-VIP-Premium?); which you might find useful.

If you want a path to becoming uber powerful with the resources you've stated; I may recommend running the Against the Slavelords quest chain (3 quests found in the hall of heroes in Ebberon) on heroic elite a bunch of times and creating a 5 piece set designed for whatever character you want to play a bunch. (Warlock; as mentioned is a popular choice. They would take a 5 piece sorcery set making sure to include charisma, constitution and appropriate spellpowers/lores). Wearing this set should make you feel uber from levels 8 to 14ish next life (and every other life you run; which on the path to power; can be a lot if that's your play style). Some people even wear it up to levels 20+.

Another thing to look out for is the trash loot. There was a pass a while back which made it much, much better then it used to be; and it's now likely better then most items you own (only a few items; like some greensteel and most clickies have survived the powercreep).

Someone mentioned cannith crafting; I wouldn't worry about this yet unless you happen to be sitting on a huge stack of crafting essances (these can be converted into the new cannith essences at the crafting stations). In general; cannith crafting is near-perfect-roll random loot so it's a decent step up from using random loot when you're ready to make that step; but not totally necessary for starting, as it can take a large investment (time or money+less time) to get useful stuff out of it. On the other hand; pick up all the collectables you run across while questing (they're useful/valuable now), and check out the auction house for gear; if you're lucky there can be a good-roll random loot item there that fills a gap in your current gearset.

Favored Souls are next in line for a buff; I'm not sure of the timeframe there; if it's 2 weeks from now or a month. I probably wouldn't wait on that for anything right now; but if you TR back into a favored soul; you'll probably be more powerful soon enough.

Ps. There's no reason to LTR before you HTR since HTR is a new character, it doesn't matter what your stats were in the previous life, only what class you were.

Hi there, thank you for all your information! Amazing stuff.

I'm planning a Lesser TR +20 just to respect my FvS in Sorcer and then HTR again to FvS so i get the Sorc past life :D That was the plan and seem smart, correct? :D

Just renewed for a 3 month Vips (fu*k me!) and i'm planning to buy the Menace of the Underdark (hope in a good deal on that), in the meanwhile i've runned several Epic quest (also lvl 30) with my old geared toon (no Epic destiny atm) and seem pretty easy. EN and EH are just a peace of cake.. EE a nightmare... got almost oneshotted :D.

Thank you for all this info, very appreciate!

however ravenloft is well worth the cash best heroic and epic gear in game

best endgame gear is found in ravenloft
easy to solo on legendary hard even undergeared and without 2thousand pastlives
not hard to solo at cap on le
however you will never have trouble finding groups for ravenloft esp running reaper difficulty as everyone is after upgrading vanilla gear for mythic and reaper bonus gear
