I'm going to be making an Aasimar Scourge soon and am looking for build/gear suggestions

Are you planning on focusing on melee or ranged?

If you want a ranged build, you can't go wrong with Strimtom's Acid Arrow (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/469213-quot-Strimtom-s-Acid-Arrow-quot-Maximum-Bow-DPS-F2P-new-player-Friendly).

I'm playing a ranged scourge myself, and there's so many points to spend in the arcane archer and deepwood stalker trees that you have few to no points available for the scourge tree, so Strimtom's build works even though it was made for a different race.

For bow, I'm using the Bow of Sinew, which is one of the best bows for its level. I also have backstabber's gloves to help out with sneak attacks and to get deception.

I'm planning on going with a melee focus and I want to go heavily into the racial tree

Ah! I am doing a melee build after I ER.

The second post here contains a basic melee ranger (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/445226-Revisiting-the-Elven-Ranger-for-New-Players) that would work well.

It may not go deep enough into the scourge tree for your taste, but it gives you a starting place. For me, I'm not sure a deeper investment in the scourge tree pays off vs. what you would lose in the tempest and DWS trees. But, I am planning on focusing on short swords and rapiers, not blunt weapons, which might make a difference. If you are planning on using blunt weapons, take a look at Skullsmasher.

Thank you ! this is quite helpful, I am planning on leaning towards Blunt weapons

Any of the standard pure ranger builds work fine with Scourge. If you want something which goes heavy into the racial tree, there's some builds in this thread when Steelstar solicited ideas for default paths: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/490402-Iconic-Scourge-Path

Awesome ! this is very helpful as well, I'm pretty hyped to try out the iconic, Rangers are my favorite class

For other gear - what they include as basic gear for the scourge isn't bad if you are just starting and don't have other gear.

I just got a Beacon of Night from the new Disciples of Rage pack and thought to myself that it would be perfect if I made a melee ranger focusing on blunt weapons. I suggest looking into it, as well as its pair, Beacon of Light. When both are equipped, you get a set bonus.

I'll be sure to go after those, thanks again !

I'd rather have a pair of Phosphors (http://ddowiki.com/page/Phosphor), which as I mentioned in the earlier thread (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/490402-Iconic-Scourge-Path?p=6027128&viewfull=1#post6027128) has a much better critical threat range with all relevant bonuses.

You're right, Phosphor is a great weapon. If only the Tome pages weren't so hard to get...
