Renegade Mastermakers core 2 "Alchemical Shield" not working?

The second core of Renegade Mastermaker, "Alchemical Shield", does not seem to be functioning. I just tried entering Ravenloft, and got instantly ***pwnt by the wisps magic missiles. Instead of getting a Shield wand, I decided to respec and put the 6 points necessary into RM for the perma-Shield. And got instantly ***pwnt again by the Wisps' magic missiles. Then I looked more closely, and noticed that my AC hadn't changed, there was no new buff visible (not sure if there would be one), and just to be sure I respecced for the Alchemical Shield two more times to confirm. No AC, Wisps still instapwn me, so I guess it's just not working. I also logged out and back in again in case the shield just hadn't loaded yet for some reason, same result.

And yeah, there's nothing special about the wisps Magic Missiles, the Shield spell allowed me to completely crush them as expected.

Is there a workaround?

EDIT, SOLVED: Never mind, I was wearing light armor, "Alchemical Shield" requires medium or heavy armor to function, and due to a cosmetic, it didn't occur to me to verify that little fact.

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of using the same enhancements in a build I'm working on. Fortunately, I haven't gone to level 3 in Arti yet, so I think I'll put it off until I hear more.

Did you try unequipping and reequipping your armor? Or were you maybe wearing light armor?

I still end up using wands of shield ... cause hey, +4 shield AC bonus.

I still end up using wands of shield ... cause hey, +4 shield AC bonus.You can get the RMM enhancement "Shielding Construct" which gives that shield to you and everyone around you for 2 minutes, and induces the +4 shield AC bonus on top of the +4 non-shield AC bonus Alchemical Shield gives you. (IIRC, may double check later)
