This was a fun run all around, and was also the first run in which we decided to test our "Bounding" method for the staircase fight. In higher difficulties of CoS runs the stairway invariably becomes the hardest part of the raid, and for this run we decided to try to add some organization to what is the most chaotic part of the raid. The idea behind "Bounding" is for the group to stop their movement through the spiked portions of the staircase in order to clear trash that is below the team, then once the trash is clear move through a section of spikes and clear the trash on the other side; before repeating the process. The ultimate goal is to avoid having to fight any trash while stuck in the middle of the spikes, this is a death sentence on reaper Strahds and can make the whole raid bloody and costly.
Overall the results were a resounding success; our healers didn't have to consume any manna pots; and we made it through the stairway with minimal loss of life. There was a steady and methodical presence during the staircase fight that made this run very enjoyable. With this confirmation we will probably be drilling our peeps on this idea for several runs and then look forward to tackling Strahd on an even higher difficulty.
