Hey everyone,

I have come back to DDO after a long break and I have been playing with a couple of my friends and we all closing in on level 20. When I made my cleric, I did not put to much thought into the build, and as a result, it is pretty much all over the place. I have been reading a lot of the various cleric build threads and I wanted to build a light direct damage caster, and I wanted some thoughts about which cleric domain to go with. Right now, I am thinking, Air, Magic, Sun, or perhaps even knowledge.

Thankfully, I have a couple lesser hearts of wood +20 to do some respecs.

There are a few stacking quirks to be aware of :

earth/fire http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Burnscar_Sash
earth/fire legendary: http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Legendary_Burnscar_Sash

air/water: http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Thrummingspark_Cord
air/water legendary: http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Legendary_Thrummingspark_Cord

also lgs weapons at level 26: http://ddowiki.com/page/Legendary_Green_Steel_items/Tier_1

The reason these are important is they stack with normal items effectively giving you a 200 spellpower bonus to the elements on top of your domain bonus at level 30. You still need a light crit chance % item, but this will cover your element and light spellpower well. I even use the heroic belts at epic levels because why not boost spellpower a bit.

If you want to go with blasting I would either go:
1)earth: you get earthquake. You have some slas from cleric and exalted angel.
2)air: you combine with burst of glacial wrath and then you have divine wrath, energy burst, burst of glacial wrath and chain lightning for aoe damage.'

sun is a trap. Although you get sunbeam sla which is nice you have so much lower spellpower. You are better off going earth/air and your unmeta'd sunbeam will be as good as a fully meta'd sunbeam sla in sun domain.

I would splash 2-3 fvs for just reward to make spell point management easier and increase crits a bit. In the case of 3 fvs depending on difficulty it's also a good way to boost dps with the level 3 fvs core.

Are you all committed to going on to 30 asap?

Generally speaking (there are exceptions), chasing 30 is a tough slog on any first life build. I strongly suggest that you all consider grabbing a reincarnation, a Past Life and 34 point build, and then re-level to 20 and on to 30. You know the quests, your gear is better, you know what (not) to do, you can farm what you need - all better.

Leveling is much faster now than a few years ago, esp if you're doing it w/ a group, and even a casual player can knock out 20 in a couple months w/ a leveling group. But ymmv - just sayin'.

If you're staying the same class split, see if you have your plain old lesser heart of wood around. No need to waste a +20 on a mere stat/feat respec. Save that +20 for when you actually want to swap to a different class.
