View Full Version : Thoughts on a Rogue , Ranger, Druid, build.

I am coming back to the game and I admit I do not understand a lot of the subtle mechanics now in play. I have always enjoyed sneaking around on rogue, being able to disable traps and finding secret doors and such. I have messed around on Korthos Island with Druid and with Ranger builds. I was wondering about possibly combining them. A couple of levels of rogue, then a level of Ranger, and then Druid.

My thoughts on this which is based on how I tend to play is that the rogue skills give me my abilities for secrets and traps, my ranger level allows me to unlock the arcane archer tree and allows me longbows and favorite enemy feat. Druid gives me fun in wolf form and two companions in the form of the one that levels with me and summon companion along with helpful spells and a few attack spells if needed. Plus when I am with friends I tend to be support/heal.

race HIN with first feat being Lesser Dragonmark.

I can start with 32 points so

STR 14
DEX 12
CON 14
INT 12
WIS 14
CHA 8

Skill points mainly in Concentration, Heal, Silent moving, Hide, unlock doors, disable traps, Spot, Search and after reading multiple threads and people debating about it.. Spellcraft.
Action points I've noticed so far I tend to put in to Racial and Arcane Archer

thoughts? Is this a total fail build? Or even if I have fun with it one that will never amount to much?

Welcome back, OP. :)

Before committing to any druid builds, have a look at the preview thread (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/493875-Druid-Update-Preview) for the upcoming changes, particularly to wolf / bear forms (if you're planning melee). The good news is they're finally planning to fix all of the shapeshifting bugs which have accumulated in the last 4-5 years, which will probably be a major improvement to pure druid melees. The bad news is they're finally planning to fix all of the shapeshifting bugs which have accumulated in the last 4-5 years, which is gonna break pretty much every wolf build you can find on the forums (including mine), which were based on - or at least built around - all of those bugs.

As for your specific idea: if you're playing an elf of half-elf, you can access their racial AA tree, which makes more sense to me if you want rogue / druid archer / trapper hybrid than doing a deep ranger MC, IMO. Though you may still want rgr lvls for feats and DWS; while it's not optimal for the current Reaper (http://ddowiki.com/page/Reaper_difficulty) metagame, an elf / HE druid 13 / rgr 6 / rog 1 AA build can be pretty self-sufficient and fun.

Thank you for your information! I admit that many of your posts are one's I've read on Ranger and other classes. I've been looking at one of your builds for possible Cleric/Ranger for a pure group play if we get a few friends in.

You are Artificer.

*Shrug* Maybe, but I don't like that class. My friend is playing a rogue/Artificer and I am backing him up with ranged dps, heals, and our pets help... at least that is the plan ^,^
