Are they doing more to flesh out the Ravenloft environment, or is just off to another completely different setting?

Looks like another ToEE or Haunted Halls, someone there loves multiple hour dungeon crawls.

Classic D&D modules are what got all this started. Not everything should be finished in 3 mins with haste, heal pots, and rez scrolls. Ravenloft is it's own setting and it's big enough that they'll probably add more adventures into it over time.

I certainly do. Long dungeons are great as long as the content is different and its not just 40 hallways with 40 packs of mobs.
That said, the final fight in Part 2 of TOEE is ridiculously tough compared to the rest of the dungeon. You spend anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and then get smashed.

Imagine they had a regular producers letter and that got consistent publicity on massive gaming sites and drove interest and trials to DDO. Wouldn't that be a nice thing for no effort?
Oh wait, that would be marketing ¯\_(?)_/¯

I have played both of those places quite a lot, it was not necessarily a judgement. However, in every way other than atmosphere, which its own reward to be sure, they fall flat for rewards. In addition a large amount of the gear from these places has been obsoleted, while initially it was mostly interesting. Now, that happens to the gear from every old quest you say, and to that I say, yes, but at least in terms of xp/min, well, they hold up.
Frankly going through all of ToEE at Epic should give you an epic levels worth of XP, but it comes nowhere close, so it comes back to atmosphere, or procrastination.
