Since a few patches ago (2 or 3 since I noticed the problem but it could have been a Windows update that set it off I suppose) when switching from DDO on fullscreen to another program, when I switch back to the game it crashes - possibly with a Directx9 (?!) error message - and sends a report to Microsoft then closes down the game program. I'll update the error message when I can get home to see the exact wording but has anyone else found a problem relating to switching from DDO to other programs and back in the recent past? TY for any help...and happy hunting!

There are several threads in the technical help forum about this. Yes, it was the windows update, not the game. Most people fixed it by downloading a different version of Directx. For me, I just had to change the version I had been it was set to in game. (I had been using DirectX 9 because of an earlier problem running the game under WIndows 8.0, changing it to the latest version fixed the problem for me.) Check the tech forum for more explicit details.

Which version of DirectX do you have atm?

I'm not sure how good 9 is, but I do know that 12 causes these problems with DDO.

I've been using 11 with no issues.

If you do have 12, and your in game options doesn't let you change it, you'll have to manually download an older version of DirectX. It must be done manually, or else the web updater/your computer will detect that you have a 'better' version and cancel the download/install on you.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

That link will let you download 9, 10 and 11. I suggest saving it and not running it after it downloads, but instead go into the files and find DXSETUP.exe and double click/run as admin.
