Just getting back to playing after a 6 year hiatus and my first life back in the day was an 18 Cleric 2 Monk. What are the popular splashes for the modern cleric?

With the redefining of the Cleric class that occurred with the addition of Domains, I don't think there is going to be a clear cut "best" cleric build. Even before domains clerics have been "viable", the argument of optimal will always be of debate especially with ever changing systems from enhancements, classes and even equipment consolidation.

The Clonk advantages such as pushing Wisdom, Xen Archery, reflex/evasion and in some builds the use of Wisdom Based stuns still exist. It is still the direction I would point fellow players that "love" the monk playstyle but want to delve into a deeper understanding of what the divine classes have to offer.

I know for one person they found the 17/3 Cleric/Monk fit their style better.

I think if anything, the biggest change in the cleric class that has occurred over the course of DDO is a much wider acceptance of the Multi-class to shore up weaknesses or augment strengths.

Welcome back, OP. :)

Biggest changes in the last six years (apart from a ton of new content & gear obviously):

Level cap is now 30. Epic levels (http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_levels) don't work like heroic levels, though, so we're still restricted to a max of 20 (heroic) class levels. There's also a bunch of epic-specific feats (http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Feats) as well as Legendary feats (http://ddowiki.com/page/Legendary_Feats) (you can take one at lvl 30).
Epic Destinies (http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Destinies) (EDs) which is where the majority of epic power creep comes from. There are also ED feats (http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Destiny_Feats) which can be taken at lvls 26/28/29.
Warlock (http://ddowiki.com/page/Warlock) class
Iconic Heroes (http://ddowiki.com/page/Iconic_Heroes)
Enhancement (http://ddowiki.com/page/Enhancements) trees were revamped four years ago (Update 19). The melee & ranged trees have all been buffed since then; casters are still waiting for a proper pass though.
Three(?!) new forms of Reincarnation (http://ddowiki.com/page/Reincarnation) to go with the original TR (now called Heroic True Reincarnation) as well as new past-life feats to go with all of them. Like hamster wheels? Now there's way more of them! :p
Divine / cleric-specific: new deities (http://ddowiki.com/page/Deity_feats) and domains (http://ddowiki.com/page/Domain) were added.

Clonk is still viable, though I don't recall seeing a recent build after domains came out. What specifically did you have in mind?

Thank you for the information, I did not have anything in mind specifically, it was more a curiosity with a bit of nostalgia as that was my first character's first life and back in the day I enjoyed playing a healer role in the runs our guild did.

Just to get back in the swing of things I HTR'd my "main" who was a 18 Wiz/2 Rog and rolled up a Warlock on the advice of my friends. Right now she is sitting at lvl 30 and we are enjoying the new content for a bit before we all ETR together in a few days (plus I am in desperate need of new gear as you can imagine). It was somewhat depressing to feed my formerly good epic chrono set to my shiny new sentient weapon but it should make clearing out the TR cache a little easier :). Thanks again for the replies, great community around here.

Clonk is better then 6 years ago.

Handwraps are now "real" weapon. They are no more broken as before. You get [W] and stuff that now works. Add Domains and Clonk is to the order of magnitude better

but ...

Reaper happened. You need to be really durable if you don't want to be soul-stone 24/7. And self-healing is nerfed in reaper.

It's not really "clonk", its that reaper is very unforgiven to melee builds in general. Make something very durable and you'll do fine. Super self-heal wont help you tho.
