Flame blades

I'm new to the Druid, and I'm wondering if the flame blades benefit from combustion in the same way that the fire spells do.

No: Flame Blades don't benefit from Spellpower, unfortunately. FYI, they also don't improve past CL:20, so they never get any better in epics, which is part of why they're considered a poor melee option for druids.

Would scaling with fire spellpower make them ok then in your opinion? Or would they be overpowered in herioc? Or still fall behind in epic?

Maybe scaling by a % of fire spellpower (like the different Eld Blast shapes), but the weapon effects just don't hold up. They could rework the spell to improve beyond level 20, but then that would also pretty well lock a Flame Blade user into a Primal Destiny. Generally they're a handy tool for leveling a druid caster until they get good spells, but nothing more than that unfortunately.

Bit belated, but I'll add to this.

When Druid first came out, CL 16+ Flame Blades and CL 20 Flame Blades were, other than the issues with being pure fire damage (like being useless against fire eles, devils, and red dragons) top-tier weapon quality for their level range. The procs and effects on them were incredible.

But we've had multiple loot revisions, and many new weapons come out, and now they're mediocre at best, easily outclassed by a great many effortlessly acquired weapons.

At the very least, they could use a pass to bring them up to modern weapon status. Old School flaming and flaming burst just isn't worth much anymore.
