View Full Version : How promptly do you get a sentient weapon jewel?

How easy would it be for me to just pop into Barovia and obtain a Sentient weapon jewel? Would it be as quick as running the quest to get to Barovia, and then stepping into the wilderness to talk to the tutorial NPC?
My toon is at lv 29 ATM, but soon going to be TRing so I can play the Heroic version of Ravenloft with my sister; of course, we want to be experiencing Ravenloft together for this first run though. However, if I can get at it without playing too much of the content, it would be nice to obtain a weapon jewel so I can start feeding it some of the named items I have lying around, and stuff I find during my next life (small amounts of XP are better than plat!)
P.S. My understanding is that you can feed a sentient jewel that hasn't been slotted in anything. Is that correct?

It is easy to get a SJ; just run one quest, then follow the road in the wilderness.

If you run the first quest that takes you to Barovia on Epic, when you come to the Wilderness there is a NPC. The first time you talk you get a weapon choice. After picking a weapon talk to them again and you will get a choice out of 3 Sentient stones.
Getting the upgrades will be from the epic versions of the quests

For those accounts/servers without a convenient high epic level character to grab the free jewel, what are the chances of getting a random dropped jewel by questing in Ravenloft? Trying to figure out whether it would be more efficient to work on leveling a (currently level 18) character up to be able to get through the epic intro quest or just try my luck with random heroic questing.

are there guest passes to Ravenloft? I was thinking a guest pass for someone to get a sentient jewel

According to Cordovan, since it is an expansion, there won't be guest passes.

And talk to the dude twice.
The first time, he will give you a nice weapon. The second time, he will give you a jewel. I ran all over trying to figure out where jewels come from because I only talked to him once.

Just something to note for those that want one of these Jewels but do not currently have an Epic/Legendary level character...
Complete the Heroic Level Opening Quest, Once you level to 20, go to the bar and enter the explorer area on Legendary. The NPC will grant you access to the level 29 starter weapon and then the Sentient Jewel.
So it appears the only requirements to get access is to complete the initial quest on Heroic or Legendary and be at a minimum of Level 20 to enter the explorer area.
This is good news in that for those that wanted access to begin feeding the Jewel you can get it prior to do a Full Reincarnation.

Just like the Menace of the Underdark and Shadowfell Conspiracy expansions, there are no guest passes available for Mists of Ravenloft.

Yup, thanks, I have my jewel and a Morninglord weapon.
And, just to make sure, I need to slot the jewel into a weapon before I can start feeding it items, don't I?

Might be bad loot luck, and I'm not sure since content's only been live a little bit, but I think the only ways to get a jewel are from that vendor (once per character), by completing the saga (but I've only tried it on the true elitist tier, so idk if heroic or on a tier below all EE will still drop it), or from the raid.
Of these options, the raids and vendor are epic only (heroic vendor gives lvl 10 wep but no jewel), and the heroic saga is iffy, but possible. If you feel that completing all the Ravenloft quests will be faster than hitting lvl 20, by all means go for it, but the only guarantee I know of is in epics.

I have yet to see a sentient jewel drop in a chest (and you won't see them at heroic levels, they are EPIC. ONLY.)
You can get a sentient jewel out of the epic saga end reward every time you complete the epic saga.
