Now that The Night Revels 2017 is coming to a close, let's discuss what new content could be added next year and in the following years.

There are presently the four original shorter "spooky" dungeons and three longer dungeons which have since been added after the first year. One more longer dungeon should be added which confers all of the haunted Ingredients.

http://ddowiki.com/page/The_Night_Revels

Any suggestions on what the 8th (and probably final) spooky dungeon should be? Coal Chamber was a brilliant addition this year, IMO, and I hope the 8th one is something like Resurrection Chamber. I would also like to see Eternity brought back, but as a six-man raid of sorts instead of in its original form. The Night Revels would then be eight dungeons - four short and four long - and a capstone six-man raid that provides the biggest mat reward or even unique mats that can only be obtained by slaying Eternity.

The end of this year is the time to bring up these ideas so that they are put on the devs' plate in early 2018.

Copy pasting myself from an earlier thread:

This is going to sound weird but its more or less my 8yr old son's idea originally with add-ons from my 5yr old daughter. My son has a character high enough level to be in evening star and he goes into quests way too high level on casual too. He loves Study in Sable and he said it would be awesome if it were made into a haunted house quest for Night Revels, with all the kinds of traditional Halloween monsters. But mostly ghosts and wraiths... because Haunted House. My daughter, mostly watching us play Night Revels, liked the searching for Mysterious Packages and she said its like a Scavenger Hunt (which she took part in Sunday School). She said the haunted house should have a scavenger hunt as an optional. Thinking about it, that could actually be very interesting if the various items for the scavenger hunt were hidden in the rooms randomly (much like the guest items in Study in Sable).

Then my son said the various scavenger hunt items could be used for a second optional, if the items combined for a magic ritual to summon/create an optional monster. Neat idea but it started an argument. He wanted it to create Frankenstein and my daughter wanted it to create Hyde (which she knows from Abbott and Costello.)

My husband has also come up with a new monster idea reusing the Vine Stalker race. He wants to see a recolored (orange) plant creature named Pumpkin's Revenge or something similar that is the animated pumpkin innards wreaking havoc on us.

I think it could be re-purposed pretty well with different lighting and webby decorations. Starting out with less living NPCs and a dilapidated, gloomier interior would make a huge difference. Also many of the mobs you fight in the quest could be replaced with more Halloween themed creatures such as the Wood Woads, Topiary Lions, Dretches, Fire Mephits, and the various animated objects could be replaced with skeletons, zombies, ghosts, specters, and wraiths.

Assuming the topiary maze is kept as part of the quest, I think I would like to see Willhelm's house replaced by a small pumpkin patch with my husband's pumpkin monster optional and maybe werewolves appearing as you turn corners in the maze. In the magic chambers perhaps there is a lich or a group of necromancers. I could see gargoyles or shadow gargoyles on the roof. There's lots of options.

I agree that a spooky version of 'A Study in Sable' should be the eighth The Night Revels dungeon.

A raid with the spectral dragon! That's what I want for christmas! Or halloween. If a raid is not possible, I'll take a challenge with the dragon and his mabar gargoyles. And he would be giving out slot upgrades for the cloaks and robes.

I would like to see a spooky version of ruined halls but you have to smash open enough crates to get 5 stars. I always liked the idea that all those crates and barrels had creatures stuffed in them. And the end boss could finally release all those creatures from stasis for us to fight.

Good idea. The Ruined Halls would be an excellent The Night Revels dungeon, but I still prefer A Study in Sable.

Cordovan mentioned on the live stream today that SSG may end public instances for The Night Revels Delera's Graveyard due to the lag generated by them. If this is implemented, any changes to the public area would be obviated as there would only be 12-man group instances.

Well, if it was to surpass the annoyance of resurrection chamber i would go with cordovan idea of fusion The Pit and Rainbow in the Dark.

What is needed is the 4 spooky stats that are missing. It was talked about previously and the Devs did say they would think about it but I assume that due to the Expansion work being carried out they did not have time

My wife has been playing her level 30 character this year, and has not earned many keys. My 27 (now 28) artificer has been getting a fair number of them. What we would both like to see next year, if they keep the public instances, is a legendary (30-35) zone for characters that are at cap who still want a shot at getting a good number of keys to drop.

I understand why the dagger was picked for this years 'must build' weapon but a more mainstream weapon for next year would get my vote.

Study in Sable gets my vote, just give access to it from Eberron

I would add the spectral dragon somewhere and then have it drop spectral dragonscales. These could be used to make 1) spectral dragonscale armor or 2) some other bling

I wonder if there have ever been more than 12 in there anyway.

If it is no longer public, they could set it up as an xp slayer area. This would compensate that you no longer slowly heal/refill mana.

.... as there would only be 12-man group instances.

Are you speculating, or did SSG state this?

Which dungeon? The Pit, of course.

You start at the bottom. The Avatar of Juiblex is there, but it's really tiny because it's not getting enough to eat. It needs to go trick-or-treating!

So, you pick up the ooze, stow it in your backpack, and climb the ladder.

Then, you run past the doors that normally lead into the puzzle areas. They currently have their barriers up, but you can knock on the barrier and the Avatar yells "TRICK OR TREAT!" in a high, squeaky voice. You then get either a trick (a fight) or a treat (that the Avatar promptly eats)

5 stars:

1 star: get the Avatar a Treat
2 stars: get the Avatar 5 treats
3 stars: get a trick
4 stars: get 5 tricks
5 stars: Turn off the Security Traps (you have to actually run down the hall into the Security room, where there's a miniboss fight, and pull the lever)

Cordovan mentioned on the live stream that they are considering this due to the lag from the Delera's Graveyard public instances.

Will the Haunted Mansion with a hedge maze be the eight Night Revels dungeon? Lots of good ideas in this thread. :)

I doubt any of these ideas have been implemented for this year, although it would have been fun. Maybe they'll do a Lammania preview and we'll find out the location of the new quest.

It looks like one of your suggestions DID get implemented this year. Visit the Supreme Pumpkin in Grisly Pumpkin Patch.

Aw now that's really, really awesome. Now the question is should I tell him right away or let it be a surprise when we get to run Night Revels together?

As of Update 40, we will have eight "spooky" versions of dungeons and the 6-player Spectral Dragon instance. So what is left for The Night Revels in 2019 and beyond? We will, of course, get new rewards but is there room for yet more Halloween versions of dungeons from the game? What's next?

I was thinking about this the other day ago and largely agree with you. Other than tweaks and new items do we need any more new extra 6 man challenges? The haunted house idea has been passed about that could be interested especially if it could be made semi random.

IMO though I would like the devs to spend some time looking at the existing winter festival. Maybe add a few more jumps, puzzles whatever to freshen it up.

Farming for an icy burst kit also feels a bit meh. I would like new winter items to be added and an winter explorer zone (perhaps similar to CC or Delera's). Some wintry seasonal special instances would be good to and potentially something good for new or returning players to see, who are potentially likely to try out DDO over the winter/Chistmas season.

The Haunted House could be added as a 6-player challenge, with Rainbow in the Dark effects (a party member must carry a lantern to light the way). I'm not sure if we need any more spooky dungeons from the existing game. The Haunted House could reuse the sets from 'A Study in Sable,' including the hedge maze.

I would suggest a challenge/dungeon that dispenses ingredients that do not expire.
