Do most DC casters use a two-handed Thunder-forged weapon? I just stumbled across this today, that 2 of the T1 upgrades give a +1 Exceptional bonus to spell DCs. Is there anywhere else to get a +1 Exceptional bonus to spell DCs besides these weapons?
It's not possible to get the bonus on a thunder-forged orb is it?

Some do...most dont with the power of legendary green steel that gives exceptional 2 stats to sometimes even your stats. I dont...i use large shields for the double mrr bonus. Some use orbs but you sacrifice a lot of survivability.

I do not use a 2h TF weapon, my normal weapon sets on my Enchantment/Illusion/Necro focused caster is LGS T3 Salt/SL orb or Legendary Deep Demise/SL orb

I can't think of a single example of where a DC caster is better off using a 1x 2-hander vs 2x 1-hander (for casting). Even if you get a bonus from a TF staff (for example) that is unique, a single weapon isn't going to ever beat the combined slots and bonuses from two weapons.
Or maybe there is a situation that I'm forgetting, and someone else can post it.

A staff that give two items a run for their money...
Legendary Slave Master's Staff [ML28]
http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Legendary_Slave_Master%27s_Staff
Spellcasting Implement +42
+14 Enhancement Bonus
Fire Lore +27
Lightning Lore +27
Insightful Evocation Focus 4
Wizardry +371
Elemental Resonance +185
Acid Lore +27
Insightful Conjuration Focus 4
Orange Augment Slot
Against the Slave Lords Set Bonus
Mythic Weapon Boost +2 or +4
But it is the combination as part of a 3 or 5 Set bonus that. Even a DC caster needs To Damage bonuses especially when the DC stats can be on other gear.

I agree that the additional Red Socket of the Two Handed Thunderforge is not enough to offset two single handed thunderholm weapons (I prefer 1 scepter/dagger and 1 Orb myself)

At Heroic Level 14 I do like to use the Staff of the Petitioner

+5 Enhancement Bonus
Power Store
Enchantment Focus 2
Necromancy Focus 2
Concentration +5
Spell Penetration III
Upgradeable Item (Black Abbot)
* Adds Potency +48
* Adds Spellcasting Implement +15

I have to agree with Enoach, the Legendary Slavemaster staff is my go to weapon at level 28 for casters. I also like the level 8 version for leveling up in heroics.

The abbot staff is a very nice piece, but a little outdated now. The SP discount is about the only reason to keep it beyond a few levels.
Since the SL orb can also act as part of the SL set bonus, the staff is good but not so good that it is a must-have, IMO, especially if you want to slot LGS or maybe TF.

The 2hander with eternal chilling for offsetting spell points would let you kill all day and unless you have an odd stat would beat out the others IMO. Now with Deep Demise I am a little more hesitant as this gives some good options there in conjunction with LGS etc, but will need to wait for my wizard to be back at cap to try it.
But despite that you always look cooler with the abbot staff cosmetic on it.

I can't either, offhand.

Doesn't look bad for nuking, but doesn't look very good for DC casting.

In the old days, this was awesome, but with all the power bloat, it's way behind the curve now. It's a nice swap for the SP-reduction during buffing.
Both of those 2 would put your DC casting behind where it would be with other stuff.

This staff is very nice, and i have 3 stored for my 3 casters. I think its more suited for sorcerers or warlocks of the nuking type that uses Acid or Fire. Too bad its taking two hands. It also can have reaper boni if you run the Slaver quests in Reaper mode.

I'm Sure most DC casters run with slavers set. Orb is much better item in slot it helps finish set and consolidate some stats that you would need to find elsewhere. And even if take that aside, 1dc not really worth entire item slot.

Slavers staff is not bad item but can't compare to stacking 150 spellpower, dot or 1 more insightful stat from LGS.
Plus conjuration or evocation is kinda meh.
