That being said, unless you really like cosmetics, the value of the two more expensive packs seems dubious.

It is interesting to see the AP tome finally make an appearance. I wonder how many AP it's worth, and whether or not it will be available separately.

Hopefully, this is either inaccurate and/or incomplete. Including months of VIP in the bundles is a pretty huge d*** move to all Premium Accounts. I'm Premium for a reason. I'd like to get the Scarecrows...but $129 is just bonkers.

I realize expensive packages like this may be great for some people, but can you throw us Premium users a bone here??
How about a "Veteran's Edition" which includes just the expansion, race, universal enhancements tree, and both scarecrows (all the gameplay-relevant stuff) for $60? To be honest, that's more than I'd really like to pay but I'd at least consider that one.

Personally, I really could care less about the consumables, cosmetics, and completely-gameplay-useless companions. And I can't imagine that viewpoint being too far into the minority.

for what I would care about in the Ultimate bundle, I would say $130 is a tad high for me. I like the mist aura and 2 months of VIP as something different than what the other expansions offered. the things that seem to be a red flag to me are the racial point tome and bottle of mist. that tells me action point tomes are a real store possibility down the road and I assume it will require flagging and/or favor to get a bottle of mist to get to Barovia. pretty sexy package though for someone that cares at least for most of what's offered. in the end I'm sure I will buy the Ultimate one last minute just like I did with all the other ones.

If you hit "add to cart" it sends you to an error on the LotROs market page. I can't see why anyone would make a fake page that does that. Might not be final though.

Packs are about what you'd expect. The base addition is very reasonably priced, while the swag editions are relatively steep. My brain says get the cheap one, but I'll probably get a case of the wants and splurge.

on the specifics:

The consumables are a bit weak. Mirrors are nice I suppose, but res cakes and shards are pretty unexciting. I would much rather get something xp related like sovereign pots or an xp stone.

The cosmetics looked nice in the preview, but the fact that so many people will be using them always detracts a bit in my mind. I like to use cosmetics that are a bit less common.

Most intriguing bit is the "racial enhancement point tome." That would obviously be extremely valuable. I'd like to know more though, like will they be in the store? Will there be a +2 or higher version? THe "on every character" thing is neat for folks that still play a lot of alts.

12 dungeons, a raid, and a wilderness area is pretty solid though, and that's by far the most important part. Can't wait for the pack itself to hit.


I think MotU really had the right idea with the XP stone and the spider mask that gave +1 skills. the XP stone helped lapsed players get they're toons into position for the expansion.

I talk to a lot of returning players and they always have their main toon stuck somewhere in the mid heroic levels and they forgot how the build worked and what they were doing (no to mention massive system changes). It becomes a hurdle to get going again because they have to limp to 20 before they can TR, which isn't a very fun way to get back into a game.
WIth that in mind if I were making the packs I would put an heroic xp stone, epic xp stone, and a +20 heart in the big pack. That's the kind of thing that gets people excited that they can jump into the current meta relatively quickly and play the xpack.

The exclusive cosmetics are probably "exclusive to the ddo store" not "exclusive to this pack".

I do take issue with SSGs approach to getting the word out there though, hype it up! It’s Ravenloft ffs! Get some media interviews out there, whoever will listen!

If they put the 'useful' stuff in the CE and then made the UFB all the extra cosmetic stuff it wouldn't be bad. They've just got stuffed grouped in a dumb way is all. It's pre-2007 scheme pricing and not a more modern "we actually like our fans" pricing.

That is to say, you put the base kit so that people can still play with their friends in the 'el cheapo' bundle. All the cool 'value' stuff in the CE. Then you make the "Hey you guys like us feel and have disposable income...feel like giving us money?" in the super CE.

Instead they put things like a Barovian teleport, racial AP tome, etc...high value items in the fluff bundle to try to sell that. With the current implementation the CE has absolutely no point to it. Why would you get it? Who is it marketed to?

All they've done is priced the UFB out of the range of many people but there's not enough value in the CE to be a mid-ranged purchase so it's either UFB or base kit realistically. It feels like yet another in the modern-DDO owner era of "let's milk the whales" design.

An HTTP 302 tells the browser to load the second page instead of the first. I could see if it was some content on the forum post that someone hacked in to make the browser move, but not this mechanism, unless they completely hacked the forum.

Color me underwhelmed. Granted we get some clarification and maybe that will help

For example

How does the VIP code work? Can you sell / trade it?
If you are already VIP and apply it what happens.
If you are premium and apply it do you need to provide a Credit Card? Would you then need to cancel it?
What is the Iconic Hero?
The mist weapon aura, is it purely cosmetic or does it add an actual effect?
What sort of hire is the scarecrow meant to be. I assume Melee but will it actually survive and be useful in combat or is it another owlbear meat bag?
Are the "exclusives" exclusive to the expansion or exclusive to the store?
Why is there no "pre-order" bonus like in the past?
What levels are the quests / wilderness area / Raid at?
Why no DDO points included, this honestly was the big selling point for me.


Honestly most of this information should be included in the marketing you have a lot of blank space there. "New Iconic Hero" could easily be "New Iconic FairyDragon Farts Hero" and the quest levels could and should be included as well.

At the pricing I am seeing it's got me underwhelmed. Also adding 2 races (icoic whatever and Aasimar) is a nice **** punch to those who have been grinding out for Racial completionist, looks like you poor buggers have 6 more lives to run through if you want to keep that feat.

But the biggest, by far BIGGEST question I need clarified is have they resolved the issues with applying expansion codes to the account? My understanding is that this is still broken for MOTU and Shadowfell and if that is the case you are not going to get a penny from me until MANY people have bought it and posted that it worked for them. Though even then I wonder if there is much in the way of usefulness for me.

The fan bundle is way too much for what you get. Especially for a pre-order...

There are things in there I like, but the Ultimate Survivor’s Package is junk. Cakes? Ethereal shrine? I like mirrors but what do they have to do with "survivors"?

It would have been nice to get a cosmetic that matched the MotU stat mask, I admit, but the vampire hunter outfit looks sweet on my horc, and I like the mist aura on my twinblade cosmetic. It wasn't a horrible expense when you consider I got the last two expansions for a total of less than 15 bucks (super holiday sales!), so I wanted to contribute this time since I could afford it.

Not sure if it still works this way but when I bought my Motu pack it was still being sold by turbine even though the divorce was final. Try turbines site if you are interested in MOTU. Must still be some copy writing issues.
