View Full Version : PSA: Ooze's damage from the LGS proc is scaled down with the skulls
I have seen multiple posters in multiple posts saying that the ooze's damage is not scaled down with the skulls. So I would like to turn this mystification down because the LGS Ooze proc damage is scaled down as the skulls go up. I would hate seeing anyone to waste Legendary Shroud mats over this and then be disappointed later. Hope it will help some to decide.

You don't make an ooze weapon for damage. You do it so that the oozes will get in the way and make it harder for mobs to get to you.

This is why I make Ooze weapons. Gives the monsters a target besides me. Slows the monsters down. A form of crowd control, with very little control :p

This. The damage the oozes do is irrelevant, what is good about them is that mobs are very likely to aggro on the oozes rather than on party members, and the few seconds you get to hit the mobs for free like that are invaluable.
If you make ooze weapons thinking that the oozes will be a useful addition to the group's DPS then you have misunderstood what they do :)

No problem :-) Can be a good aggro distraction but definitely not that helpful in R10 damage wise as some posters make it to seem.

What this really sounds like is that the LGS Ooze proc scales up with lower skull content :cool: :cool: sounds good to me.
Either way, ablative meat shields are AFAIK the main purpose thereof.

Don't know about main purpose, but they dont really tank that well on higher skulls. Maybe in the lower ones, but are they needed there?

Haven't crafted a LGS weapon yet so I wouldn't know :P
As a fan of melee (who only has a few PL's and small RxP), I'd say that anything that's eating damage for you is a plus.

Isn't all damage scaling down on more skulls simple because of the damage reduction gets higher, so it doesn't have to do with the oozes becoming weaker but the mobs becoming stronger?

I use it a lot IRL when referring to minions etc. Especially in the few times I've played PNP 4E, where there is a class of enemies that die to a single hit.
I guess these would be more of ablative jello shields, but that doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

I personally doubt anyone would find the ability to be completely unaffected my mobs for one minute in R10 useless.

It still dies in 1 hit in R10 :) I'm not sure how useful it actually is. But again, if some people want it, now they know that they don't do amazing damage as other posters have said somewhere else. They might build one for another purpose that isn't dps, their choice, but without any misinformation.

Just wanted to add that the ooze summoned is not always a Legendary one. Very often you proc a low CR version.
