so... when levelling a warlock they periodically have to select Warlock special ability feats..
but why do we have to manually select the only 1 option available.. shouldn't this be auto granted like Ranger feats...
Its not like monk or fighter bonus feats where you actually have a choice of options..
Seems silly that we have to manually select as part of the levelling process when there is no other choice..

I like to think that's leaving it open for extra choices to be added later.

It's so you can't change Pacts with Fred, and have to buy a Lesser Heart instead.

Ranger feats are set, the better analogy here is to deity feats. Which those too, don't have choices after level 1 but you still have to select them. So it is consistent with other systems. My guess is it's just easier to program this way.
My approach would have been to grant all the feats associated to each pact at level 1 and just have them level gated to be active. But this could be more difficult to program, not as friendly with multiclassing, more laggy, etc.

Like rogues.
I can't recall the books that much but what other feats would be there to choose from for Warlocks?

That thing comes to my mind every time I level up a warlock.
But this answers it:

And when will we get ice and electric warlock pacts?

I would guess that behind the scenes, all of the different pact feats are "available" at that level, but since you only meet the pre-reqs for one based on pact, that is the only one that shows. But according to the system, all three are still "available," thus making you have to choose rather than it being auto-granted.

WANT!
Ice not so much, but electric!
Can't really think of an outer planar being that deals with lightning though...

i thought i remember a dev saying something along the line that they were planning on adding more choices at each level but hadn't decided what. cant find the quote now

*Taps forehead* Of course, makes perfect sense in hind-sight. Heh.
But at least in an off-handed slanty sort of way, makes my answer right too, kinduv. :p

Electric could be an Eladrin. The same with ice. Though there's also the planes of Eberron, which give credence to pacts of various elements.

However, it occurs to me that deity feats aren't technically set in stone after level 1 unless you're a favored soul. For clerics and paladins, you have choices at level 6 between your "special ability" deity feat (eg: Unyielding Sovereignty) or the Child of [Deity] feat, which favored souls are forced to take at class level 3.
As a general rule, any paladin or melee cleric who uses a favored weapon is probably better off taking the child of feat instead of the special ability feat.
Your point stands, though. This is just some trivial minutia. (Minutia that cost me at least an hour supporting the functionality in my character planner.)

If it is as steelstar says, then move these to the top of the Feat Selection list and "auto-expand" the "list" so they are easily seen and selectable during the level-up process.
